Here's my entry for BeerSaturday 446 with a beer I bought during my weekend in Saint-Côme over the holidays. I was planning to get a beer from the village brewery, Trècarré, like the two I'd featured in previous #BeerSaturdays, but it turned out to be a Session IPA, Rivière Secrète from the La Fosse brewery, located 200km away 😀. I only noticed my mistake, no big deal, last night when I opened this nice can with this design.

Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 446 avec ma bière achetée encore lors de mon weekend pendant les Fêtes de fin d'année à Saint-Côme. Je pensais prendre une bière de la brasserie du village, Trècarré comme les deux dernières présentées lors #BeerSaturday précédents, mais en fait il s'agissait d'une Session IPA, Rivière Secrète de la brasserie La Fosse située à 200km 😀. J'ai remarqué juste mon erreur, pas bien grave, hier soir, en ouvrant cette belle canette.

Here is a map of Quebec where I can show you the exact location of the brewery. La Fosse is a brewery located in the town of Donnacona, a town situated between Trois-Rivières and Quebec City. For your information, it's named after the Iroquois chief Donnacona, who lived during the time of Jacques Cartier (around 1535).

Voici la carte du Québec ou je peux vous montrer précisément la localisation de la brasserie. La Fosse est une brasserie installée dans la ville de Donnacona ville située entre Trois-Rivière et Québec. Pour info, elle porte le nom du chef iroquois Donnacona qui a vécu à l'époque de Jacques Cartier (vers 1535).

📜 Brewery / Brasserie :

La Fosse is located in Donnacona and was founded in December 2019 by four friends living in the area. It wasn't the ideal time to open a brewery with a restaurant, as three months later, everything shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, the buying-local movement was booming in Quebec, which allowed the brewery to survive. And now, it's thriving in the city by adding a welcoming spot to enjoy a good beer and some tasty food. I hope to visit someday 🤞.

La Fosse est situé à Donnacona fondée en décembre 2019 par 4 amis habitant cette région. Ce n'était pas la date idéale pour ouvrir une brasserie avec une offre de restauration. Car trois mois plus tard, tout ferme à cause de la pandémie COVID-19. Heureusement que l'achat local a été en plein boom au Québec ce qui a permis à la brasserie de survivre. Et maintenant de prospérer dans la ville en ajoutant un lieu convivial pour boire une bonne bière et manger de bons petits plats. J'espère pouvoir y faire un tour un jour 🤞.

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :

La Rivière Secrète (Secret River) is a Session IPA with only 4% alcohol, hopped with Citra, Motueka, and Krush. In the glass, it has a hazy, pale orange-yellow color, topped with a beautiful, fine white head. I like it when the head looks like this 😋.
On the palate, the first sip delivers a lively acidity with a hint of lemon. It also offers an immediate freshness, without any bitterness. I'm not used to this style of beer, but it's perhaps worth exploring further on a hot summer day.

La Rivière Secrète est une Session IPA avec seulement 4% d'alcool houblonnée avec du Citra, du Motueka et du Krush. Dans le verre, on a une robe troublée d'une couleur jaune orangée assez pâle. Elle est surmonté d'une belle mousse fine blanche. J'aime quand le col a cet aspect 😋.
En bouche, la première gorgée amème une vive acidité avec une touche assez citronnée. C'est aussi une fraicheur qui se dégage de suite, sans amertume. Je n'ai pas l'habitude de ce type de bière mais c'est à découvrir peut-être plus pendant une chaude journée d'été.

Design

The design of the brewery La Fosse is quite appealing on this can, featuring a mountain landscape with a river flowing through its center. For your information, la fosse (maybe the pit in English but as I'm not a fishing enthusiast I don't known the exact term) is the calm place where salmon rest when they swim upstream to spawn. It's a perfect fit for this beer. Furthermore, on the back, there's all the information about the beer: the hops used, the beer style, and two small sliders showing its profile. It's the first time I've seen this, and I find it really helpful for those unfamiliar with beer. It allows for an informed choice.

Le design de la brasserie La Fosse est assez sympathique sur cette canette avec ce paysage de montagne avec une rivière coulant en son centre. Pour info, la fosse est l'endroit calme où se reposent les saumons quand il remonte le courant pour frayer. C'est tout indiqué pour cette bière. En plus au dos, il y a toutes les informations au sujet de la bière, les houblons utilisés, le type de bière que l'on va trouver avec deux petits curseurs montrant leur profil. C'est la première fois que je vois cela, je trouve cela vraiment intéressant quand on ne connait pas la bière. Cela permet un choix éclairé.
