Here's my entry for BeerSaturday 329 with a new beer from Montreal-based brewery Beauregard, which specializes in dark beers. Today we're talking about Scotch Ale, an extra-strong beer at 13.2% alcohol. Generally I'm not a fan of beers with a high alcohol content, but this weekend I was in "adventurer" mode 😀.

Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 329 avec une nouvelle bière provenant de la brasserie Beauregard basée à Montréal et spécialisée dans les bières noires. Aujourd'hui il s'agit de la Scotch Ale, une bière extra-forte à 13.2% d'alcool. Généralement je ne suis pas fan des bières avec un haut taux d'alcool mais ce weekend j'étais en mode aventurier 😀.

The microbrewery Beauregard was founded in 2018 by two brothers Jonathan and Sébastien Coutu in Montreal specializing in dark beers, stout and porter, with the aim of making as many people as possible appreciate this type of beer. I've tasted many of this brewery's beers, as I really like dark beers, but it wasn't always a success, see Irish Red or the Dark Mild.

La microbrasserie Beauregard a été fondée en 2018 par deux frères Jonathan et Sébastien Coutu à Montréal se spécialisant dans les bières noires, stout et porter, dans le but de faire apprécier au plus grand nombre ce type de bière. J'ai gouté de nombreuses bières de cette brasserie car j'aime beaucoup les bières noires mais cela ne fut pas toujours un succès voir Irish Red ou alors la Dark Mild.

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :

Scotch Ale** is an Extra-Strength beer with 13.2% alcohol, fortunately only in a 355 ml can and not the usual format. In the glass, it has a lovely dark color with little foam, as you can see from the photos. The taste is of caramel and toast, like almost all dark beers, but despite the high alcohol content, you can't taste it thanks to the sweetness. Nice surprise but fortunately it was a small format 😀.

La Scotch Ale est une bière Extra-Forte avec 13.2 % d'alcool, heureusement seulement une canette de 355 ml et non le format habituel. Dans le verre, on a une belle robe assez sombre avec peu de mousse comme vous pouvez le constater sur les photos. Au gout, on retrouve le caramel et le pain rôti comme presque toutes les bières noires mais malgré le taux d'alcool élevé, on ne le sent pas grâce à un côté sucré. Belle surprise mais heureusement qu'il s'agit d'un petit format 😀.

Design

In terms of design, all the brewery's beers share the same characteristics: a can with a black background and a stylized B in the same color when the beer is poured into the glass. Simple and effective.

Niveau design, on retrouve les mêmes caractéristiques pour toutes les bières de cette brasserie, une canette avec un fond noir avec B stylisé de la même couleur quand on verse la bière dans le verre. Simple et efficace.
