A DAILY WORD IN FRENCH [#4]
Hello hivers, i wish you an amazing day ahead of you. Welcome to today's class and today's lesson is a very basic one but super powerful!
Our word for the day is a very amazing one and one of my favorite! PS:i enjoy teaching as it makes me learn more and teaching such a romantic language like french makes it feel effortless. You must have heard in a movie or in realtime when someone says "D'accord", pronounced like (dakur) it means more than just 'okay'. when you translate from french to english "D'accord" becomes okay, but in reality it means more than that.
"D'accord" came to my mind as a perfect choice for today's lesson because it is one of the most popular french words, beginner friendly , has depth and can also depict various tones and most importantly depicts the french culture.
Literally "D'accord" comes from the word accord which means agreement but then somethings happened, word formation process or morphology to add D' to make it mean "in agreement" but in real life it is a very diverse and versatile expression.
Accord = agreement
"D'accord" = okay, gotcha!
DAILY USAGE OF THE WORD "D'accord"
We can use this in so many ways in our everyday life to say okay, agree or consent to something, to show understanding and also to show emotion and perspective by changing the tone.

When someone says something you agree with you can also use "D'accord" perfectly for the context.

And then your response can have several emotional meanings depending on the tone you use. if "D'accord" sounds soft it means a calm agreement, if it comes out sharp and questionable it is surely an annoyed agreement and when it comes out very slow you'd be sure that it is a reluctant agreement. Just like in ENGLISH we say okay, alright ,fine, agreeed an so on but with different tone .
One more thing before we end this class, "D'accord" sometimes does not mean i agree but it means "i do not wanna argue" like, "just go, its okay, its fine , nevermind" so always look out for the tone and the countenance of who saya "D'accord" to get the perfect meaning of his/her "D'accord" in that context.
