THE GIFT OF FRIENDSHIPS

Friendship is one of life's gift that I hold dear. It is something that cannot be achieved by the mere snap of a finger. In our contemporary world, people tend to be careful with the kind of people they let into their lives because most humans can be like a chameleon, who pretend to be good today and end up been bad. Some people go as far as creating friendship with and building all that is required ranging from trust, love, respect and all only for them to carry out devilish acts. 2024 was a great year indeed and a lot happened, some that are pleasant and others that are unpleasant. But in all, I was able to make some good friendships both online and offline.

While in 2024 I made new friends from different tribes, it is worth mentioning that I also lost a few due to lack of constant communication and extreme distance. As a grown lady and one that has experience great youthful life and wants to make great decisions to build properly for my future, the kind of friends I make matters a lot, I tend to make friends that would not have negative influence on me or be stingy with ideas that would grow my potentials as an individual.

One time I made a friend in school, we would do most stuffs together to the extent that she would even read my formed notes for exams, I didn't see any problem with that at first but then I realized that she also made her notes and used my to substitute for where she had missed. On noticing this act, I distanced my self from her because the vibe was that of selfishness. However, while some are not good friends, there are some that makes you wish you had met them at an earlier stage in life because they are kind, jovial, beautiful in and out, not judgements and gives good advice when they notice that you are taking a wrong turn.

I actually met Dele on Facebook, when he made a comment to my post on a public group and since then we talk from time to time. Although I have never met him but you would k own he is disciplined and has good experience with life, so when I have ideas that needs various opinions he is one of my go to guy. I met him in 2024 because we are in the same state and since the the friendship has been blossoming. I also met a number of people via church activities, attending programme's or seminars and so on. The only serious friendship I made throughout the year was just two, this is so because last year was not a great one for me, I was always inside hence meeting people was not forthcoming.

In 2025 however, I intend to break the barrier, meet people, go out and network.

This is a part of my entry for the #Januaryinleo prompt as organized by the @leogrowth team with great initiative that members of Hive you can participate in this prompt and tackle them as you deem fit. In collaboration with the #hivenaija community.

Maybe it’s because I don’t get the full gist of the situation but I don’t see how borrowing notes is selfish. I’m a student and many of us do it. We borrow notes to see where we are lacking …

Indeed. There are people who just make you feel like you’ve known them for years. Dele sounds like a very great guy.
