THE FEELING ABOUT SUNDAY

Sundays are always special in one way or the other depending on an individual's preference or the situations they are facing at that time, anything can happen on a Sunday or any day of the week at all but we can all agree that Sundays are kind of special because it feels like a day when a person can pause life activities and just take a break.

Sunday is the Third Day Of The weekend which consists of Friday, Saturday and of course Sunday. For me personally, I see Sunday to be a time or day for different kind of activities which includes family and bonding, spiritual renewal, rest, preparation and so on.

Today is Sunday, and traditionally in my country it is a day of going to the church as a means of spiritual renewal. This is a day set aside to reflect and pray about the things that borders you to a supernatural being who is believed to answer prayers and work with our faith.

As a Catholic, I love that our masses take place at the early hours of the day. This allows us to go to church early and return early so as to able to partake in other activities of the day. Hence, Christians and Believers take this day seriously to go to church especially for those who were not able to attend any weekday services because of their jobs or businesses.

Another reason why I love Sunday is because it allows for family bonding. For instance, back in the days Sundays were specially set aside as a day when families would come together to prepare special meals and have breakfast or lunch together.

The popular delicacy that is always prepared on this day is white rice and stew with either chicken or fish. Although we still maintain the tradition of bonding with our family on Sundays after mass by preparing special meals such as Jollof Rice with Chicken or Beef, fried rice, white rice and stew, Pounded Yam with Egusi or Vegetable Soup, ofada rice and ayamase stew, Pepper Soup with Rice or Yam be it goat meat of fish. This tradition has helped to keep the unity and harmony of the family in place.

Another beautiful thing about Sunday is the fact that we are relieved of the stress we encountered in this busy and distracted world by relaxing our body and our mind both mentally, physically and spiritually. Nigerians can totally relate to the amount of stress we go through as business owners, office workers, students, wives, mothers, fathers and so on. This is one reason why I am thankful that there is a tradition called "the weekend" where people can relax and take their minds of some settings so as you relax.

Finally, Sunday is also a gentle reminder that the weekend is almost over and preparations for the coming week should be set in place and these includes planning your goals, preparing meals for the week, ironing of clothes, and other activities. But in all, Sunday is a calm, hopeful, and refreshing day.
