In our contemporary world, spreading of fake and anonymous news is becoming rampant especially in a community where there have security issues and dangerous attacks. These days , there are several medium where fake news can spread like wildfire and everyone is so eager to spread it as fast they can via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and so on. Most of these fake news can be dangerous to health environment or mental status. For instance we have heard of people who have been victims or fake news and it has resulted to deaths. There are many Reasons why I am not in support of spreading fake news, some of which includes that spreading of fake news can mislead people to doing things that can be embarrassing, it can bring about division amongst a group of people, it can also affect people psychologically and mentally. lastly I think spreading of fake news can be so bad especially when it affects the whole Nation and can cause economic downturn.

The popular pranks people Play on unsuspecting individuals in our present day can bring about shock and a dent on people's health. Social media content creators exploit the use of fake information to prank people in different ways. For example, something happened currently in Nigeria where a content creator who had a break in career for some months, carried out a video content where a lady who was thought to be mentally disturbed was dropped by the side of the road by some guys while the car fled off. The news started spreading all over social media by certain influencers that this particular content creator was involved in using the lady for money rituals. Nigerians took this personally and debated over the matter for quite a while only for the content creator to come out and say it was a prank.

This misleading information and fake news was not particularly well received by Nigerians because it provoked the sensitive part of what people are trying to fight against. The idea that women are stereotyped as objects for money rituals used as a prank in a video wrongly was too much. Before we knew what was happening the news has traveled far and wide, the whole idea of the content creator was to become popular and famous. Fake news has been used in the past and even in the present to promote social media presence, acquire fame and be popular.

The spreading of fake news by people who intentionally carry out the act has it difficult for people to recognize original news. Take for example, musical artist who died recently called mohbad, had been posting about his maltreatment from his musical label but people did not believe him at first until things got out of hand and he was killed. Again there was a musical artist who faked his own death just because his musical career was crashing down.

In view of all that has been said, fake news can be dangerous and misleading. This is why I always advocate for authentification of a news before actually falling for it.
