Sustainability has to do with the ability of creating environmental friendly activities or products that would not alter the natural space of living. The concept of sustainability is often applied to factors such as environment, economic, social, fashion, etc. The general idea is to find a balance between human wants and nature, while trying to satisfy human needs, it is necessary to take into consideration natural factors that can either contribute to it or deter it. In my country Nigeria for instance, the government proposed 17 sustainable development goals that aim to meet the needs of the people at present and also have the future in mind.

These sustainable goals include: no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, Reduced Inequality, Sustainable Cities and Communities,Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life on Land, Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, Partnerships for the Goals. The aforementioned example simply proves that the government is trying to make the world a better place and tackle challenges that affect the nation.

In essence, sustainability can also be applied to fashion, where the priority of the individual who desires to dress in a certain way can do so comfortably considering the weather. The goal therefore will be for fashion designers or tailors to create eco friendly materials by using original and organic fabrics to make something suitable and comfortable. A sustainable fashion is one that people can afford and still dress comfortably while looking unique.

Recently, a fashion show was hosted by the popular fashion designer Ugo Monye, the designer used traditional African materials to create a unique blend of contemporary African fashion with a global edge. The outfits were bold and unique and can be worn by all and sundry. This is why it is pertinent to use Eco-friendly fashion materials, as we all know traditional Nigerian fabrics are organic cottons that are well made and durable for different weather conditions. When eco friendly materials are utilized they tend to reduce environmental impact, save costs and also promote sustainability.

This is a part of my entry for the #novemberinleo prompt as organized by the @leogrowth team with great initiative that members of Hive you can participate in this prompt and tackle them as you deem fit.
