Sleep is vital for overall well-being

Resting and sleeping are medically approved for human beings to allow for a healthy life and an overall well-being. Although, people have various patterns in which they achieve the necessary required amount of sleep or rest. I think the average amount of sleep an adult human being should have is seven to eight hours but somehow in our contemporary world there are occurrences or occasions where people cannot achieve that goal.
This is why siesta (that is afternoon sleep or rest) is compulsory if you can achieve it. I remember back in high school, in the boarding house between the hours of 2pm and 3pm we have a compulsory siesta, the main idea was to relax the brain and body after the schools work before we proceed to the evening sessions and it helped a lot. But as adults, the complications we face with siestas is that, while we are supposed to be resting we are at work hustling to get the bills paid and to live a lifestyle that we deserve.
The question of how often I rest is based on my activities of the day, sometimes, having a siesta can be accomplished and other times it is not feasible. In other words, I can classify my rest to be a periodic action that happens based on how busy my schedule is. One thing I have come to realize and incorporate into my lifestyle is the fact that, even if I don't get enough rest I should be able to compensate for it at night hence, it is give or take.
Rest or sleep is a necessity for the human body especially if you want to be active for the next task or job ahead. My point exactly is that whenever you lack the opportunity to have a good sleep make sure that when the opportunity arises you overcompensate yourself by sleeping properly and sufficiently.
Although doctors advised that we need 7 to 9 hours of sleep but this is not achievable based on my location and the kind of work I do. Basically, in Nigeria the environmental atmosphere is a determinant factor in how an individual would sleep and enjoy it. Imagine living in a city like Lagos where you have to wake up as early as 4:00 a.m. in the morning, get things done around the house and step out by 6:00 a.m. to join the hustle and bustle of transporting yourself to the office and so on.
Again, on returning back from work you are faced with challenges like traffic, over time, delays and so on. Hence, when we get back from work we try to do the domestic chores, prepare meals and all that, before you know it time is far spent. In summary, an average working class individual goes to bed nothing less than 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and at this time we have less than 5 to 6 hours to have a good sleep. while this can be sufficient for some people it might not be for others but this is enough for an individual to get quality sleep if the mind is settled and not disturbed.
In conclusion, it is advisable to get quality sleep rather than just quantity sleep because when you have quality sleep you would feel refreshed and energized for the next days activity, unlike just getting quantity sleep, it only amounts to feeling tired or restless which is not a good sign. Achieving quality sleep is dependent on your comfortability, your environment, the kind of bed you use, how you discipline yourself again long screen time and so on.
