SKILL DEVELOPMENT IS A NECESSITY ALONGSIDE FORMAL EDUCATION

In our modern world, we have come to realize that formal education is not enough to take you to the level or career you desire to reach as a human being. For some reason education has been a limiting Force for some individuals to attain their goals and ambitions while for others, acquiring education is their pathway to living a better and fulfilled life. In a world where change is constant and the citizens are constantly been neglected by their government in the provision of jobs, people have resulted to imbibing Practical skills that has to do with soft skills like communication.

Communication is a very essential skill as it helps us as humans to communicate properly and effectively and this cannot entirely be learnt in school. This skill is efficient for communicating ideas with staffs and colleagues at your working place, to present seminar and bid for contracts. If this is done inappropriately or the ideas are not clearly passed on, one can lose their jobs or contracts. Also, lack of effective communication can bring affect relationships as people would not be able to understand you and you cannot express yourself. So as a student in an institution, if you lack this skill, the 4 years spent in studying a course can become entirely useless if you can not defend it by communicating properly.

Critical thinking, is also important and necessary alongside formal education as it ensures for career success and personal growth. Critical thinking is a skill that all humans should possess regardless of their discipline or career path because it is a must to be able to navigate complex situations and have the capability to solve problems effectively. My point exactly is that, in whatever situation you find yourself you should be able to readily create problem solving solutions.

In addition, people can acquire various skills to complement their studies, because it seems like only the theoretical aspect is been taught in school and they dismiss the practical aspect. There are many vacational aspects for people to partake in such as tailoring, programming, UI/UX design, carpentry, hair vendors, electricians, plumber, content creators, YouTubers, lifestyle bloggers, software developers, hair stylist, chefs, nail technicians, animator, crypto trader and so on.

All these can keep a person determined that after school, you do not necessarily have to wait years to get a job but rather, you can engage in side hustles that would explore your skill and earn you money. One benefit of been an entrepreneur is the fact that you are your own boss and can run your businesses as you deem fit. With the way the country is going, been an entrepreneur is the best way to go unless you are lucky or well connected.
