Politics and misplaced priorities

Politics has overtime become the engine and driving force of l a nation's development. All over the world, this system of government has been employed to ensure credibility and efficiency of democracy. Hence people exercise their franchise by means of voting for candidates from the different political parties available to elect a credible leader that would take up the welfare of the country at large.
Politics in some part of the countries has become a dirty game, as some people see it as a do or die affair to gain political power so as to control wealth. People have become so greedy that they do not care for people's welfare but only care when election periods are near so that they can deceive the gullible ones and buy their votes by means of sharing plates or cups of rice, meagre sums of money and so on.
However, misplaced priorities within political systems can bring about inefficiency in governmental affairs. One of such issues misplaced prioties is tied to our politicians engaging in issues that are not relevant then sidelining important matters such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
What really brought about this blog topic is borne out of a recent experience where a political party chairman, is only taxed with dishing out money to his people, sometimes 2k or 5k but he neglects the provision of educational structure that would bring about durability in learning for school student. Whenever they gather at his place, you see children who are supposed to be in school roaming around him expecting money or jollof rice. In my mind I was like, why not lead these young kids to school and conveniently pay all their school fees because government primary school fees is not much. But they would never do that rather take joy in announcements of him given members 5million naira tstudents.
Misplaced priorities is also evident in the case of reactive government. Take for instance the incident that happened in Benue state, this issue of unknown gunmen raiding people s community and killing has been in existence for decades now but rather than addressing the root cause by planning adequately and setting g security in place to tackle subsequent attacks, leaders on respond to crises and not deal with the issues.
In conclusion, it's so sad that politics is not following the credibility pattern to ensure the system works but everyone is focused on person Gains.
