ONCE A VIBRANT YOUNG MAN NOW A SHADOW OF HIMSELF
The issue of drug abuse is becoming so complex that the people who engage in them do not see the harm it causes for their body system rather they feel that they are having fun and it is a good therapy to ease off their immediate pain. There are several reasons why people claim to be addicted to the use of hard drugs or abusing normal drugs that are meant for specific ailments. Some say that it helps them to focus and be energetic to perform the days task, others claim that they were Influence by their peers or because of various factors such as neglect from parental care, roaming around the street, surviving by themselves at an early age and so on.
A funny but fundamental reason I recently found out about people abusing drugs is that, they sometimes define it to be healthy. Often times, people are prescribed drugs by their medical practitioners to help them ease their pain but not to treat the cause of the problem. Either way this people tend to be addicted to these drugs that they exploit and use them in extreme ways so as to help them adapt with the pain and be free for a while. However, what they do not realize is that they are abusing these drugs by using overdose which brings about addiction. Hence, This dependency on such drugs can lead to increased tolerance whereby the patient will require a higher dosage to achieve the same effect, in turn this can ultimately illicit to drug use, such as heroin. While trying to ease that pain, the indirectly fuel or destroy other organs in their bodies.
The abuse of drug has made many people become a shadow of themselves. We see people on the street who have been relegated to the background, lost their familiesgetd friends and everything that has meaning to them in life because they were addicted to hard drugs. In my community, there is a young man I used to know right from my childhood days the family was such a United and a happy one. In fact, during our primary school days this boy was vibrant and active in school. Recently, I came back from a long trip and then I saw the boy on the street looking Haggard and wretched, he was no longer the plum fat kid that was always fresh we used to know.
Apparently, when this kid got to the senior section of the secondary school, he was introduced to smoking of cigarettes and it escalated to the point that he started involving himself with cult guys and they started misbehaving and taking weed and tramadol in large doses. One time, we heard a rumor that while he was in another community he was almost a victim of jungle Justice because he was accused of stealing. The drugs were already having a negative effect on his health and mental state. The family is not capable oto afford rehab fees hence the boy has been neglected by his family members because I see his brothers and sisters doing so well. This has made him result to begging that sometimes he go from house to house begging for money to sustain himself.
Although, drug abuse is very bad but I feel like some parents neglect their children to the point that they are pushed to try out this so called "new lifestyle" as they see it as an attachment to their friends or peers. In African culture, a mother does not neglect their child no matter what he or she has done or is going through, there is always a way but this family has kind of washed your hands against anything that has to do with this young man. I sincerely hope that he finds retribution and get better.

Aww that's so sad. It always starts small and boom they're legit drug addicts who can't stand up straight, it's so sad, how he turned out.
Sometimes these children aren't neglected but all they want is just to feel accepted by their peers and for the ones who are truly neglected it's sad that drugs is the only thing they find comfort in
