The evolving nature of the leofinance community over the past couple of months has been so alarming, the once strictly based finance community is now a social media ground for various activities in the community. There has been several updates on the ecosystem to ensure a smooth running of the recently released new UI. All of this simply projects that the web3 blockchain technology is diverse in offering new opportunities.

Major updates have been experienced right from the onset of the launching of LeoThreads. The leofinance team has come up with several means to ensure that the platform is accessible, durable, has potentials to its members. Some of these updates includes the revamping of the UI, long Form post, microblogging, polls, gamification and so on, as I would address later in this post.

What are the most important updates among the 14 of them?

No doubt, all updates has come in handy for users to enjoys whatever they do on the leoverse, from blogging to microblogging, commenting, replying, curation and so on.

THE THREAD MODULE

Previously the thread module used to be in a box like archaic manner with its option right at the top but with the recent updates, the thread module is shaped in a more convenient and interesting way that would entice a blogger with its option right at the bottom.

THE COMMENTS SECTION

Following the recent update, it has been established that there are two ways to comment on a thread, either by clicking in directly on the thread or by clicking the comment icon which automatically directs you to make a comment straight away.

THE COMMUNITY TAB

Recently added to the list of update is the community tab. This tab is located right at the bottom of the page with an icon representing a group of people. This update has given members the opportunity to visit, join other hive communities using the leofinance front-end without having to leave the page.

THE ANNOUNCEMENT BANNER SECTION

This is one tremendous update to the leoverse, this feature affords members the opportunity to get recent information by just logging in to the UI. It is the first thing that pops up and we have the liberty to either read it or ignore. It has been worthwhile because it dishes out news on recent update and happenings in the Leo and hive ecosystem.

POST SHARING FEATURE

One major feature visible on leothreads is the post sharing feature for members who post links to their long Form posts on threads. Spamming is no longer allowed as there are steps to post links on threads by creating a threadstorm otherwise you will be reported. Hence, when such links are posted, it displays the thumbnail of the post, exposes if the author is of high reputation or low reputation, displays the front-end used to post the blog, fews beggining line of the post and finally, an options for the viewers to either view in leofinance or the front-end used. For instance, check the picture below

THE AUTO TAGGING FEATURE

This update is evident in the hive blockchain, but has now being incorporated to threads. This has made it easier to tag people and save members from the stress of typing in a wrong name. Simply type in the @ sign followed by some letters of the username and you get a drop down of similar names. For example...

LONG FORM PUBLISHING

Like I said earlier, the leofinance community is diverting from been a strictly finance based community to a multifaceted community. Now on the long Form post publishing, we can pass through the leofinance front-end to post blogs in other communities.

GIFS

At one time GIFS was a feature prominent on the Leothreads but due to the revamp of the new UI it disappeared due to incompatibility issues. With the recent updates, GIFS feature is back on threads and its also available on longform blogging.

EMOJIS

Same as the gif feature, emojis is back on the platform and it has been a roller-coaster of fun since then.they are used to depict moods and actions where words cannot describe them enough.

FIXATION OF BACKEND STUFF FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE

According to the leofinance team in one of their articles, certain issues were fixed at the backend like SSR and broken routes, all to enable a smooth performance of the system so that members would not have unnecessary bug issues. Thus, we have a Smoot running user interface and experience.

NEW FEATURES IN ARTICLES ADDED TO ARTICLES

It has been difficult to navigate through long Form publishing on the new UI as there has been bugs and issues. But the new update came with several options that are beneficial.

  1. COPY LINK: Links of the article can be copied directly and shared to wherever.
  2. REBLOG OPTION: we can just click the link to REBLOG whatever article that catches our fancy to our page.
  3. DOWN VOTE OPTION: THE down vote option is readily available.
  4. EDIT POST: This has kept most people stranded before the update, but with this we can edit posts and make corrections when necessary.
  5. DELETE: We also have the option to delete post from the front-end.

Why do you think they are the most important ones?

These features are important in all ramifications as they deal specifically with various issues that will promote the ecosystem, improve engagement activities and also drive traffic to the platform.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE NEW UPDATES

I have had various experiences with the new updates, when the gifs and emojis were added, members literally blew the pages with different gifs and emojis to display their reactions and it was interesting. Also, I have used the announcement banner most time to my advantage, I never clicking the 'read it' to learn more of what is going on the the system. I literally have tried all of the updates one way and another.

Compare the updates with former ones in different perspectives

Evolution is one necessary event that must happen in a web3 platform to distinguish it from web2 domains. Previous update were not as conspicuous as the new ones, there is a ready to go button for every necessary action one is to take. No need to roam around to edit a post, REBLOG, comment, reply, copy link, no difficulty in tagging and so much more.

IN CONCLUSION, I give kudos to the leofinance team and the developers that put together such great efforts, it is huge and has made engagement worthwhile. It is not easy but these updates has proven helpful, educative, sustainable and a great experience using leofinance front-end.

This is my entry for the leo&hodl contest. I hereby invite @seyipaul2 and@jmis101 to check it out.
