MY CHOICE OF STUDYING ENGLISH

I have always liked speaking the English language right from when I was young, despite the fact that I am from a Yoruba cultural background who grew up in Edo state. The kind of schools I went to, especially for my primary and secondary education are the ones that have a strict background in Catholic doctrines, these are schools run by Reverend sisters.
Catholic schools in Nigeria are known to be strict and well disciplined both in teaching and impacting morals. My primary education was in edo state, a Catholic school founded by my church because it was a small community but the school had Prestige because many parents wanted to send their wards to this school because of the Essence it portrayed which was evident.
By this, I mean when you see a student of Saint Josephine Bakhita Primary School, as a parent you would envy the neatness of their uniform, the discipline, the morals they embedded, their punctuality and activeness in carrying out their duties. As pupils of this school, We had a good command of the English language and I did well to the extent that I would represent my school in extracurricular activities like quizzes, debates, reading of news on the assembly ground and so on.
On getting to secondary school, I left Edo state to go to a renowned Catholic School in Ondo state called Saint Louis Girls Catholic School. As usual and expected of a Catholic school run by sisters, we expected discipline and orderliness. I was in the boarding house for the whole six years of my education and this shaped my life even to this present moments. We engaged in extra-curricular activities and joined clubs to join such as media, art, sports, science and so on. I joined the art/media club because they carried out activities just like I participated in my primary school, we did quiz, debate, news casting, letter writing and so on.
In secondary school, the school was divided in to sections, called Junior and senior secondary school, when I got to the senior part of my High School then I realized I wanted to be in the art class. I was basically good in art subjects and wanted to pursue a career in that line. Also, my English teacher made learning quite easy and interesting.
The time for entrance examination into the university came and I opted for art courses like English studies and mass communication. As a student, when you have made up your mind to do something and achieve success in that particular field, with dedication and determination, you would Excel. Hence, it was not difficult at all to pass the entrance examination and I studied English and literary studies for 4 years, I also proceeded to do my masters in English language basically.
These courses have been essential in my career path such as writing, content creation, teaching and so on. Although, the initial plan was to go through mass communication to achieve this feat but if you know your game very well, studying English is as good as getting into a good job like newscasting, radio broadcaster, voice over artist, etc.
This is a part of my entry for the #marchinleo prompt as organized by the @leogrowth team with great initiative that members of Hive you can participate in this prompt and tackle them as you deem fit.
