In Nigeria, the first civilization as recorded in many history books and tales told while we were young and the ones we read, made it obvious that the country was more concerned about cultural heritage it's preservation and implementation. First Civilization in Nigeria includes the Nok culture which was specifically known for its terracotta sculpture while the Ife culture was known for its dominant in bronze sculpture, there was also the Benin Kingdom who was majorly known during it civilization era for politics and trade. The oyo Empire was also known for their military prowess and their vast political system.

Although, I am more familiar with the Oyo empire which has to do with representing the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria and Benin Kingdom who was more dominant in bronze sculpture. Recently, I watched a movie that was released on Netflix it's a Yoruba tribal movie called "Lisabi". Telling the Tale of the first civilization through this movie captures the very existence of how complicated and wide the political system of the Oyo empire Was. A brief summary about the movie describes how the king of the Oyo empire was vicious and lacks human sympathy to the extent that he had no regard for human lives and welfare. Everyone feared him and his soldiers until change was effected.

Like I mention earlier, the one thing that stood out for the yoruba kingdom was their political system which was highly organized and complex. Movies released in this period tend to capture the form of leadership qualities the leaders possessed. This can be characterized by a mixture of monarchy and aristocracy. Back then there were different bodies in different parliaments under a single head which was referred to as the alafin, under his rule are the council of chiefs, the military, the judicial system, checks and balances.

The question of 'if this era is more advanced' than what we have now somehow I would say yes because back then everyone feared the King, they paid tribute in form of money and kind. Once a province or a town refuses to obey the rules of the King, the soldiers would not hesitate to carry out the necessary punishment. In our government system today, everything seems scattered, the people that are put in power only go there to make lives better for themselves without anyone questioning them. But back then they were selected people who were known to check and balance the excesses of overbearing leaders.

This is a part of my entry for the #octoberinleo prompt as organized by the @leogrowth team with great initiative that members of Hive you can participate in this prompt and tackle them as you deem fit. In collaboration with @humanitas community.

I have seen a few other movies that attempted to replay how things were and this catches my attention more. I believe civilization has built upon the practices of stone age and attempted to cut the excesses exhibited. Notwithstanding, learned quite a lot from transition through the centuries.
