January has always been a long month no matter how we try to make it fast, it is generally believed that One common myth about January is that it's the most depressing month. But for me,it was more of a great month than a bad month, although there were times when things got out of hands especially financially. What makes January stressful is the fact that we have to get back to getting things done especially after the holidays that had us travelling long distances, spending monies on meals, transport fares, gifts and all. Thus, the idea of returning back to school, work and all can be stressful and hard to take it.

Although one thing we had to deal with in the month of January, is the fact that we got a call from one of my uncles family that he had Prostate enlargement, which I heard is a common condition in aging men. From what I gathered he was experiencing symptoms such as increased frequency of urination, difficulty starting or maintaining a urine stream, or a feeling of incomplete emptying. This actually made him so sick that he had to start calling his family, sisters and brothers for help, my mum inclusive.

This made everyone worrisome but at the long run he went to the hospital to get tests done. He didn't have to do the surgery but it was not everyone with prostate enlargement (BPH) that requires surgery, some can be treated. Luckily for my uncle, his case could be managed through several ways like changes with his lifestyle in terms of dieting, he also had to use medications prescribed by a professional.

We were happy when we found out that his case was not so severe and that Surgery is usually considered when other treatments haven't provided relief or when symptoms are severe. Assuming this was the case, in a month like January, it would have been difficult to raise such amount of money because I hear prostate cancer surgeries are very expensive and it's a matter of life and death.

So, we can see that , it is one of the worst times in January for someone to be sick, not that it is unavoidable but it's just a bad timing. The major setback in January is the issue of finance, the month has a way of sucking you dry especially when you spend lavishly with have a goal or budget in place. As a family person, the thought of the children going back to school to start a new terms means school fees has to be paid and materials provided.

That's all that happened in January, and I am glad it was not more than what we could handle. This is my entry for the #hiveghana weekly prompt.

Thanks for stopping by my blog...
