IS TRIBAL HARVEST NECESSARY?

Tribal harvest in a spiritual or religious setting is very popular amongst some churches or fellowships where at a particular time of the year, a committee is set up to oversee the affairs of the year's harvest.

One part that bothers me is the term tribal harvest, a sort of Thanksgiving where different tribes of the countryare represented separately,is the word tribal supposed to exist in the church at all, a place where people are supposed to feel safe void of tribal segregations. While some people symbolize it to bringing people together, in actual fact it is actually causing disparity amongst people as some tribes are larger than some and tend to take authority.

From my point of view, when events in a church are used to split people into such things as yoruba harvest, igbo harvest, Edo harvest, hausa harvest and so on, it can cause ethnic differences without even been intentional about it.

One time I noticed and experienced this, one tribe was so fully represented while another tribe had lesser congregation and support. Normally, when things are done in the church, the pastor or priest advises members to support one another regardless of one's tribe, but these days I think the love of money has become a driving g force that they no longer see issues in this.

Don't get me wrong, I am not against the fact that people cannot represent their culture and traditions wherever they find themselves but it's a different case if everyone is represented equally. No when, you expect monetary gifts and items individually from the different groups

Thank you...
