FIRE HAS BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EFFECTS

Based on today's prompt which states that we should post a photo of something we saw that caught our attention, for me it has to be this fire. We cleaned up the house a bit and threw out a whole lot of items that were no longer useful in the house. As a means to sustain the environment by protecting it from waste flying g around, we decided to burn all plastics, cartons, books, nylon and so on. This goes to should that fire can be a good thing and can also be harmful and dangerous. With my experience so far I think it is more dangerous than good because even when you use it for a good cause, you could end up hurting yourself.

For its positive aspects, fire is known to bring about warmth when the weather is so cold and this is common in the western world, as a means of survival during the harsh winter period, they call it a fireplace specifically designed in the home to burn wood and create heat. This rarely happens in Nigeria, as the cold season is quite manageable.

Also, fire is used to prepare meals. In the olden days when there was nothing like a kerosene stove, gas cooker, electric cooker and so on, we were preparing our meals through the firewood method. This process is carried out by creating a fireplace at the back of the house, putting enough wood and light on a match to make it burn. This method of cooking is known to be fast and adds a peculiar scent to the food. Even to this present day, people still adopt this method as it is fast, convenient, and affordable, although too much smoke from it can be harmful.

Fire serves as a means of transformation in some certain cultures, they are of the belief that it is symbolic to rebirth and new beginnings. So traditionalists ensure that fire is present whenever they want to commune with their gods or ancestors.

While there are positive effects of fire, there are also negative effects of fire which is destruction and danger. On many occasions people have become victims of fire accidents ranging from gas explosions, residential fires, industrial fires, transportation and so on. Fire accidents are so bad that it can change the course of your appearance in a second.

This picture is definitely a reminder that fire can be both dangerous and positively effective.
