EXPERIENCES DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON

The holidays are over but we engaged in activities that would make us as individuals to reminisce about the events that happened. A lot of things happened during the festive holiday because it combined both the Christmas and the new year celebrations, where families and friends came together to celebrate by engaging in cultural and spiritual activities, spending quality times with with family members especially the ones that are distant. There were multiple experiences during this periods that categorizing the best one would be selfish, hence I would enumerate all of them.

One of the best experience I had during the festive period Was my family members from another state in the country coming to our place to celebrate, these gave us the opportunity to spend quality times together and reminisce on a lot of things that we have missed out together. In the course of doing this we engaged in activities that brought about togetherness such as making the festival dishes like jollof rice, fried rice, frying the chicken and so on. Again, we had the opportunity of watching movies, together playing games and performing outdoor activities together. One thing the festive period is known for is that it brings about unity and togetherness amongst not just family members but friends at the same time.

Also, during this s period in the village, there were lots of cultural and spiritual activities. In the spiritual activity aspect, as a Catholic we had different activities to mark the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hence, we engaged in activities like the Christmas carol, confessions, vigil masses to Usher US into the Christmas and the new year day. Apparently, this doctrines have been set to Foster the spiritual growth of individuals by making people know that the festive period is not meant for enjoyment alone but also to build their spiritual mindset on the purpose of these celebrations which is love.

Then culturally speaking, the festive period is a Time in the village when the people come together to release a particular masquerade and perform different rites that brings the people together. During this time The traditional rite of what is called the age groups take place, this is when a particular set of people who are of the same age bracket perform rites that brings them together. Some of these includes dancing through the village square, visiting the Chiefs of the palace and so on.
