WHY CHALLENGES ARE IMPORTANT FOR GROWTH
There are two types of people in this world, those who see challenges as a stumbling block and those who see challenges as a stepping stone towards their desired goals, WHICH ONE ARE YOU?
HOW DO WE ENCOUNTER CHALLENGES?
When we grow, we face challenges, and when we face challenges, we grow. These two words are interrelated, it makes challenges almost normal. Rather than flee or make excuses or allow challenges to make you remain stagnant, make wise use of challenges to stimulate your growth and personal development.
The rate at which we grow when things are going fine is lesser than the rate at which we grow when all odds are against us. Challenges are stimulants to aiding personal development. It builds the way we think, makes us a better problem solver. In fact, the way we provide solutions to other people's problems depends on what we have faced personally, it makes it easier to give advice and also give a sure way out to people facing a similar challenge.
Take for instance, in my 100 level, I met a friend, he was always taking everything, including his academics with levity. We wrote our first semester exam, he had 3 carry overs, same with second semester. He was so devastated, his result didn't portray the best of his ability, he was very worried.
After the reality check, he was invited to the counseling unit because he was in third class, his result almost sent him out of the university. I was fortunate to see him leave the counseling unit, it was coincident though, and then I asked him why he was dull, I jokingly said "have you impregnated someone?" 😂 I didn't know he was passing through hell, the way he replied made me notice that the atmosphere wasn't for jokes. I got worried and had no other choice than to ask him what went wrong.
He opened up to me, told me about his result and how he has taken his academics lightly. After he explained, I smiled and told him it wasn't over yet, I told him about a similar problem I faced, how I failed exams and had to rewrite severally, it was a lot that day but I felt the relief on his face, encouraged him to do better, and then we went our separate ways.
I didn't know what we discussed went a long way, we are both in our final year at the moment, his results has always been getting better, he's almost in his first class, even better than my result😂
He didn't give up, the hope was thin, but he never gave up, amidst the darkness, he saw a tiny light, even though the light was blurry, he faced the problem squarely, gave it all that was left in him till he overcame.
The challenges you are facing today may not be palatable, that's fine, it's definitely within your control, give it your all by finding ways around the challenge, challenges are meant to be faced, not to flee from. Let the challenges stimulate your growth. It's better to try and fail than not try at all.
The cool thing about facing challenges is when you overcome them, they can never scare you anymore, you've literally risen above it. Challenges would come whether we like it or not, we only have to brace up and face them head on.
Nice piece bro.
This gives more value to the post, thank you, as it is so easy to write about, challenges aren't easy to combat, that's why we always need to stay motivated, I mean always!
Challenges and difficulties are all part of life. I'm not even scared of those. All I always pray for is to be faced by a challenge I can handle without having to beg anyone else for help.
His experience with his result is something a lot of people also experienced. I'm glad he was relentless regardless of that.
Exactly, challenges that we won't be able to handle will not come our way🙏
