Sketchbook - Update - I'm Back & Blood Covered Floors
Hello and happy Wednesday!
The title for this one is pretty crazy, but it has been a long week. (2 weeks?)
Okay, let me go back to the beginning while I sit here, stroking my cat, who has decided to sit halfway on top of my keyboard. #catpeopleproblems are a thing.
So...the sketchbook part of things:
A little acrylic on paper portrait of my friend, Andrea. She is the sweetest person.
None of the drawing in today's post will have process images due to my daughter having been home from school for the past two weeks. I barely managed to get anything done during this time, simply too much parenting and too many messes to deal with!
Just an attempt to entertain Abbey...and eventually myself, when she got bored with painting and made me sit through yet another episode of Gabby's Dollhouse. Haven't actually tried using watercolours before this.
Eventually, we were bored with being at home all the time and decided to go to a local restaurant so she could play in the play area and be around some kids. (after hearing the word 'playground' about fifty times)
Whenever I am out and about, no matter where I go, if I am sitting down for longer than two minutes, I always end up drawing. Usually simple silly little doodles like this. I really like drawing eyes!
These were a very lucky find! In my town, we don't have proper game shops or places where you can buy anything awesome or themed. I actually found this at a bulk plastics shop. I had been thinking about investing in some graphite pencils for a while now. I was also pleasantly surprised at the quality of these pencils. The pack of 12 pencils cost only R25 / $1.30 so I was pretty skeptical at first, but I absolutely love them!
Still have a lot to learn, and I only have HB pencils, but they are definitely much better than a mechanical pencil!
During the time that my daughter was at home, we also baked some cookies! My German friend gave me this recipe. They are absolutely amazing an I had way more than I should have.
Now, for this next part, I won't traumatize anyone with photos... This morning, while doing something as normal and boring as walking back into my house...I managed to kick the doorframe hard enough to rip my entire toenail off.
I have been planning on replacing the door, but as I have mentioned in the past, we are renovating the entire house (slowly, because you buy stupid things when you're young and naive) so I have to wait until after the floors are done, which can only happen once the kitchen (which has no windows and a leaky laundry room) is done, the list goes on.
Either way...I am deeply unimpressed with myself right now and also unable to wear shoes or walk much.
On the upside...I was finally able to sit down and watch a very strange and trippy but kind of beautiful movie while making little fingerless gloves for my daughter, hopefully she'll stop wearing mine now.
Well, that's it for my random ramblings today.
Till next time! Stay weird and don't kick doorways, even if they are ugly.

😁👻☕️🏹🏹 Thank you! Nice to be back! Have a lot of reading to catch up on now 🫣
I'll have to go find the movie name again, for some reason my brain has gone completely blank, even though I watched it just a few hours ago 🤣
