Sketchbook 005 - Just an Old Drawing in Pen & Acrylic (No Process)

Greetings from my little corner of the world.

I apologize in advance for the lack of process and effort on this one! Though I am definitely planning on adding the process for this style of drawing...I just don't have it in me to go through all that right now. (If I ruin one more thing due to trying to rush...)

Anyway, I am already working on the new sketch, which will have photos and all the stuff and thing my posts usually have.

This is an old drawing, from many years ago, in a style I like to use when drawing people from photos, mainly because I find it more comfortable than trying to do anything more realistic. Less intimidating!

The reason for drawing this was that, at the time, I really liked the look of this guy's hair...which made me want to draw it.
Makes me wonder if everyone just ends up drawing things they are attracted to, who knows...

Well, that's it for today, hopefully tomorrow I will have something more interesting and informative for you guys. Right now I feel like a zombie, so I'll just go have a lot of coffee.

Till next time...

Hello, as I once told an editor on Hive, it takes years to start feeling the pencil in your hands. I find it easier with my computer than with pencils, so I will continue to perfect my craft and play with the pencil from time to time. Like in a post you made with a winged woman I told you that I would try your technique to prepare a drawing. Thing done with the drawing below

Hi! Glad you tried it! It really helps with the proportions right? 😁

Yes, I said the same thing to myself. I did it quickly to test your technique. I will try to do more later, thank you for your advice. Continue to publish your drawings and also your photos!!

That picture reminds me of someone but I cannot for the life of me figure out who it is. I like the 'moodyposts' tag!

I can almost guarantee that this isn't someone you know 😅 (They used to tell him he looked like Jesus though... so maybe that, with sunglasses? 😆)
Yeah.... had to add that tag, figured the moodiness would show anyways, might as well own it, in some way.

(Edited)

Ha! While reading that comment who it reminds me of clicked (even though it does not look like them) Jim Morrison. I see the Jesus look too now ha!

Yep, better to own it! I hope that coffee did you well and at the same time I gotta say (in general) and unrelated to the post: Stop rushing and just go at it all with an even pace.

LOL at the ghost! Pew pew 🏹☕🔫🤠

Haha glad you figured it out! 😀
The coffee helped a little bit yes (the next two cups after that helped even more)
That's good advice... might need to try doing that. I tend to want to do everything, all at once, all the time 😅

👻 figured the cowboy is sort of your emoji counterpart. In claiming the ghost as mine. Cowboy and Ghost. It's a thing 🤣 (Or a really bad band name)

Have you ever used the stove-top espresso makers? I switched to just drinking espresso (by the cup so like 6-9 shots of it) at a time years ago. If you have the constitution for it give it a try!

Yeah, pace is everything. I used to be super impatient and in a hurry all the time but after tons of practice (over decades) I became incredibly patient.

The cowboy is assuredly my emoji counterpart as you put it! Ha! Not a bad band name there! It made me think of the movie 'Cowboys & Aliens' for some reason. 🏹🤠👻🔫

Actually haven't used those before, might need to look into it!

😅 Definitely need to work on being more patient, hopefully it'll happen eventually.

Haven't seen that yet... will consider it for the next time I get to watch a movie.
Haha can't imagine what a band like that would sound like. 🤣

The stainless steel ones make a better tasting espresso but I always get these cheap aluminum ones.

I'll keep that in mind! Will probably only be able to get a cheap one too, for now at least.
Also, cute dog! 😜👻🔫🏹

Yeah, I do not mind getting the cheap ones because sometimes I forget them on the stove and ruin them! I am so bad at it that I took to always buying two of them years ago.

Ah yeah that is Good Girl. She is the mom to the other dogs. That picture is from I think two years ago before her age started to catch up to her.

Ha, think I remember you mentioning that you ruined one in an older post 😅

How old is she now?

I am unsure on her age. I think that she was two or three when she wandered up out of a creek and I shared the last of my food with her. That was a little over twelve years ago.

She was always so fearless and physically strong (and fit) that seeing her go downhill the last few years has been really hard on me. Most days it is by far the largest reason why I feel so moody. I was writing about it for a while there but had to stop because it was too depressing.

I'm sorry, that makes me sad too. Never easy to see them aging like that.
They don't help much, and it is silly, I know.... but I'm sending virtual hugs for both you and her, for the difficult days!

The first part is very sweet though, sharing food or shelter with an animal is always an amazing thing. Probably because they actually deserve and appreciate it. Glad you found her back then. 🏹🏹

The virtual hugs do mean a lot! Thanks it is much appreciated and reciprocated.

Yeah, after spelling that out I was like: Do not frigging make her sad because she probably has enough going on!

It is truly an amazing thing to share with an animal. She totally found me but the wild thing is that just the evening before I was telling someone that I really should get a dog... then boom there she was. Never regretted it.

Strangely, being sad is okay of it is for people, things (or animals) who deserve a bit of empathy. (Better than being sad because of idiots or stuff and things)

It is! (Even these cats each have their own little story)
Isn't it weird how that happens? Maybe the universe heard you 😅

Is she the one that has been breaking the bed when you're gone?

It is assuredly strange!

Nah, the one that likes pawing at the bed and rolling around where I sit is the one that got snakebit a few times when she was a pup. Her name is Socks because she has little white colored paws. She is such a peculiar little critter and can sense storms when they are still days away.

I just came back from a hike and although the linens were tossed around (again) the rip in the cover is still the same size so I think she got the idea to not mess with it.

That sounds adorable! So weird that she can do that. Animals do the strongest things sometimes, makes life so much more interesting to have them around.

Hope it was a nice hike!
Ha, at least she's being good and not messing it up even more. 😁
Having to sew things can be such a pain, useful skill though.
