Sketchbook 038 - Redrawing Old Drawings (Full process With Video)

avatar

Greetings and happy Thursday!

Today, I attempted to redraw the first of the old drawings. Seeing the difference between then and now is really fun and interesting (for me at least)

The original drawing, from many years ago. Can't believe I will be 33 next month. It feels surreal!

Just a basic pencil sketch to get going (The full process, including how I drew this, will be in the video)

I like to line some things in ink whenever I draw. Usually anything that has a really hard edge or that I want to bring forward as a focal point.

In this case, the figure needed a decent amount of outlining, due to the amount of little details in the drawing.

Just some very basic painting and shading. I chose this image because I liked the colours and idea and didn't feel like changing too much, especially since I am working on another stressful portrait at the moment too. (Will probably provide a sneak peek of that on waves today too!)

Little details like the flame thing needed to be kept pretty basic and simple, for the sake of the other details.

Chains always take ages to draw! Luckily I have a bit of a cheat.

Some more detail...

Done...but it still needed something...

A bunch of spatters and random colours always makes things look better!

Now...seeing as I am not very good at explaining my drawing process...the full video.

Well, that's it for today.

Till next time!
