Pages From My Sketchbook - Love/Pain - Therapeutic Art With Process Video
Greetings Friends!
Art is a process but it is and always will be a form of healing, that's why we create after all. To express, to process.
Even when the art itself isn't happy, creating it is very therapeutic and satisfying, especially when you get to throw knives at the painting.
The drawing itself isn't anything too interesting. Of course, as they tend to do, my gold marker decided to quit on me.
Using glitter and wood glue felt like a good choice as I do love a bit of sparkle.
Leaving the drawing as is was simply too boring of an idea...also it didn't fully capture the feeling I was going for. The solution was simple...throw a bunch of paint and a knife covered in red paint at it. I think in this case, the accompanying video is as important to the final work as the completed painting.
It isn't exactly perfect, but something about it being emotional and messy makes sense for something like this. It is more about the creative process and getting back to the right kind of energy than about a pretty picture sometimes.
Well that's it for now. Till next time!

Apologies, I was having trouble publishing earlier, do not know how I managed to post twice.
When I saw the first image, I didn't initially see the faces at all. My brain did a weird flip and saw two hooded eldritch creatures (actually the hair) tearing apart and sucking dry a once-human form (the shaded bright space between the faces).
I guess I'd better not do any Rorschach inkblot tests until I'm in a slightly better place. 😆
😅Definitely not the time to do one. Somehow, what you saw sort of makes sense for the state of mind this was made in. Also gives me an idea for another painting.
