I come from a fairly artistic family, but I've never been any good at drawing. I can handle more "technical" drawing, but not life subjects or the more artistic stuff.

I came to the conclusion that rather than beating my head against a wall it was better to focus on what I'm already reasonably good at, which is more 3D oriented. Give me a model to paint, or a piece of 3D scenery to create in Meshmixer for 3D printing, and I'm pretty good. But putting things on paper.... nah, the results are far too embarrassing to post in public. I admire your talent 😀

Good point! I do believe that, with drawing (and any other skill really) you have to enjoy it enough to be willing to put in all the time and effort to become good at it. (Which is why I just cannot get my head wrapped around digital art or guitar playing, can't be bothered to keep going once I start struggling)
Model painting looks really interesting and awesome though! (Don't know much about 3D things, tried Blender once and almost broke my little brain)

The advice is correct and good, but unfortunately they will not help me, no matter how much I tried to draw, nothing good came of it.
This is probably why I decided that I would take photographs :))

Well with your photos being as awesome as they are, you really don't need to be able to draw to create beautiful images 😁 we all have our own skills and talents.

I'm so glad, didn't say who I was drawing on purpose, to see if anyone recognizes who I was going for. So thank you! I'll call this one mostly successful. 😁 Hoping to improve the portrait drawing this year.
