Only 2 Red Seeds

What if you just put two seeds in the soil?
Not ten. Not five. Just two!

I know it sounds a little weird, but that’s exactly what we did. And the crazier part? This whole story, whatever it turns into, whether it’s just a cool little experiment or something way bigger, it’s all sitting under the soil right now. Just waiting. And it all started with two tiny red seeds.
So here’s what happened.

A few days back, we were talking with our cousin Inno. That’s short for Innocent. He’s one of those quiet types, the kind that doesn’t say a lot, but when he does speak, you listen. Real sharp guy. Always thinking, even if he’s not saying it out loud.

We were out in the sun, just chatting, nothing too deep at first. The convo drifted into farming, hunger, working, land, corn, you know... all the usual stuff that comes up when you’re gisting with some time on your hands. Then Inno hits us with a line
He goes,
“If you want red corn to grow, only plant two seeds per hole. Add more, and it won’t germinate.”
At first, I thought Like, wait—what? Just two seeds? Not three? Not a handful? Isn’t more better?
“No,” he said. “If you crowd them, they fight. You end up with nothing.”
And that’s when everything shifted. What started as small talk suddenly turned into a plan. Something we had to try.

Next thing you know, we are out there planting. Inno’s got the rows marked, red corn going in, spacing just right. Threw in some yams while he was at it, because why not? If you’re already out there sweating in the dirt, might as well make the most of it.
But still, those two seeds. That’s the whole story right there.

It still blows my mind. Everything in me wanted to plant more, just to be “safe.” But that’s not the way it works with red corn. Too many seeds in one hole and nothing comes up. It’s like they cancel each other out.

So now we’re in that quiet phase. The in-between. The waiting zone.
The seeds are in the ground. We check in every day now.
“Any sprouting yet?”
“Did the rain help?”
“Are we rich yet?”
Okay, okay—maybe that last one’s a bit of a stretch… but not really. Because if these seeds do what we think they might do, this could be the start of something much bigger than we expected.

All images are mine except otherwise stated.

And so, here we are. Waiting and watching. Rooting for two little red seeds that might just be the beginning of something big, Or maybe not. But either way, we’re learning, and we’re all in.
Funny how something so small can pull you in like this.

We’re already talking about what’s next. 😁 More seeds, More rows, Maybe even a whole field someday. But for now, it’s all about the first set. Because if they grow the way we hope?
Well… then we’ve got a story worth telling.

“Are we rich yet?”

With Inno on your side, doesn't seem far-fetched...

Never heard of red corn, though.
You have a macro lens?

I never even knew corn had types until Inno mentioned it.

And Yes, I’ve got access to a macro lens ☺️ but I always use my phone for quick, unprofessional shots like this one.
