The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Exodus 9, Post #2
Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Exodus 9:6-5
Last week we started a new chapter where God said that the people must be let go or else. The punishment for not letting them go will cause the livestock in the land to perish. We see that warning ignored this week and the animals owned by all Mitsraim (Egyptians) died. The animals owned by the Hebrews all stayed alive. Imagine that.
Far'oh (Pharaoh) sent his men to check and all of the animals of Israel were still alive. Even after that proof, Far'oh still hardened his heart. So, as expected, God began the next warnings to the ruler. This time he tells Moshe (Moses) and Aharon (Aaron) to go and get ashes from the kiln, where pottery was fired, and throw it up in the air, but wait until Far'oh is watching. He says that the dust in the air will fall over all the land of Mitsraim (Egypt) and become boils and befall all people and animals alike.
That is what will happen next week if we read the scriptures and hear that Far'oh has still refusesd On the other hand, Moshe has stopped questioning the Creator of heaven and earth about the results of his warnings. I think Moshe has finally learned to have bold faith.

And the next day YHVH did this thing. All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one of the livestock of the people of Israel died. And Pharaoh sent, and behold, not one of the livestock of Israel was dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go. And YHVH said to Moses and Aaron, "Take handfuls of soot from the kiln, and let Moses throw them in the air in the sight of Pharaoh. It shall become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and become boils breaking out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt."

Pharaoh's heart stayed hard even after seeing his animals die. Moshe really trusted God this time, no more doubts! The boils part is something when I imagine I hope it never really happens to me, very painful
