The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Exodus 6, Post #3
Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Exodus 6:10-16
We are at a time in the story where Moshe (Moses) is doubting his charge to go and free the people and is wondering why the people will not listen to him. I have the same problem when trying to tell people about Steemit, Hive or other crypto currencies. People seem to like their system, the one that causes them to lose day in and day out.
God charges and strengthens Moshe and Aharon (Aaron), probably telling them to "fear not", though it does not say that specifically. I also want to mention that it seems people were still living past 130 and it was quite normal to live that long back then. See how it says that Levi had lived to 137 before dying.
Of course, as with any story, there has to be a part of the saga where the credits are run. So the second half of the scripture we are reading has all the players listed. The names sometimes give you a glance into what was going through the minds of parents when they named him or her. I know I have said that in the past but it is worth saying again. We will also be going on with this list at the start of the next post. I will try to include a some story when the names are all done being listed.

So the Lord said to Moses, "Go in, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the people of Israel go out of his land." But Moses said to the Lord, "Behold, the people of Israel have not listened to me. How then shall Pharaoh listen to me, for I am of uncircumcised lips?" But the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them a charge about the people of Israel and about Pharaoh king of Egypt: to bring the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
These are the heads of their fathers' houses: the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi; these are the clans of Reuben. The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman; these are the clans of Simeon. These are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari, the years of the life of Levi being 137 years.

I helps to have "ears to hear", otherwise it "goes in one ear and out the other". The assumption is that what we have might not be great, but it's what we know and we get very good at complaining about it - having to learn about something completely new to complain about requires a lot of work.
If Moses compares an unskilled or ineffective body part (his lips) as "uncircumcised", I wonder how the people of his time esteemed other body parts that are uncircumcised.
Great Work! חי to you AcHi. Baruch Atah Adonai!
