Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.

Exodus 16:5-8

There have been miracles of bitter water being made sweet. Then a short stay in a paradise with many wells and palm trees. Now we are hearing about how they moved from there and were grumbling against God. Last week, the Almighty was about to send food that falls from the sky. We are in the middle of the instructions on how to collect the food called "Mana" and that it will be sent daily. Continuing...

They are instructed to gather twice as much on the sixth day.

Then we see Moshe (Moses) and Aharon (Aaron) telling the people that they will know that YHVH brought them of out Mitsraim (Egypt). We hear about a visit in the morning and they will see the glory of God because he has heard their grumbling against YHVH.

Then Moshe and Aharon switch back to their own feelings, "For what are we, that you grumble against us?"

Then the scriptures switch back to what God is saying and that the people are not grumbling against Moshe but against God. The way this reads, makes my head spin. It reads a bit better in Hebrew but still jumps back and forth related to the complaining that they do and the coming sustenance of meat and mana.

But our reading is the description of what YHVH will do. The next few posts will show these things happening and why. It will make sense as we move on through these readings..

On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily." So Moses and Aaron said to all the people of Israel, "At evening you shall know that it was YHVH who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and in the morning you shall see the glory of YHVH, because he has heard your grumbling against YHVH. For what are we, that you grumble against us?" And Moses said, "When YHVH gives you in the evening meat to eat and in the morning bread to the full, because YHVH has heard your grumbling that you grumble against him— what are we? Your grumbling is not against us but against YHVH.
