X Removes Crypto Emoji
Technext
Hey folks.
Once again, Elon Musk's X is causing a stir in the crypto community by removing crypto emojis from the social media platform. The emojis were in use for over four years.
The cryptocurrency community on X is puzzled by the deletion of the multiple crypto emojis from the platform which also includes Bitcoin.
On July 25, X removed Bitcoin hashtag emoji alongside a few other crypto emojis, according to reports.
The crypto community has reacted quickly on the removal of crypto emojis from X with many crypto advocates expressing sadness about the emoji's removal.
Amidst the removal of cryptocurrency emojis, some industry watchers conjectured that the removal of Bitcoin emojis from X may have an adverse effect on the price. The removals weren't limited to Bitcoin, either.
Other coins also have seen their hashtags removed from the platform after being created in 2020.
Some observers find it puzzling that the decision was made on July 25, right before the start of the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
Prominent speakers at the conference will include Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president. On July 27, Trump—who calls himself as a pro-crypto candidate—will give a speech at the conference.
