Hey folks.

A Binance backed Trust Wallet was attacked by hackers on January 17 but failed to breach any meaningful customer data that to the quick reaction by the provider.

Trust Wallet disclosed a security breach suffered by its third party customer supporter service in a post on X on January 29. This issue was said to be discovered during a routine security check and was swiftly addressed so no user funds were compromised.

The attackers were only able to briefly interact with a filing system maintained between Trust Wallet and its customer service firm while seed phrases or private keys were not compromised.

The unauthorized access was limited to the names/nicknames and email addresses used to file a support ticket with us via the third-party system. The inner contents of tickets were not accessed.

The statement named the phishing scammers as culprits. Phishers pose as companies or services and show users a malicious replica of the actual website. Typically, the objective is to obtain confidential data and, in the end, pilfer money from gullible targets.

Phishing attacks targeting entities with crypto background have already been launched in droves in the first month of the year.

Crypto users need to stay vigilant and protect their funds.
