Celebramos el BITCOIN PIZZA DAY aunque bien bien nuestro encuentro podria llamarse HBD Pizza Day 😂.

Llevaba semanas esperando este dia 22. El anuncio lo dieron mediante el grupo de Telegram de @Hivecuba y ahi empezó la cuenta futuristica regresiva. Era tanto el pensar y la espera que confunfi el 21 de Mayo por el 22. Sabia que no era 22 pero era el número que mas tenía en mi cabeza.

Había escuchado de otros eventos anteriormente en @laflordezapata 😂pero no asistí, era muy nuevo en Hive en aquel entonces y no tenía interés suficiente. Segun me fui relacionando con la plataforma, todo me parecía fascinante. Hasta el día que nos encontramos (yo por primera vez) en el evento que se realizo en La Feria del Libro 2024. Nos juntamos varios Hivers y fue lindo el encuentro, ese día gane mi primer pulover Hive. Despues vino el evento principal del año y ahora este. No podía perdermelo! Asistir era si o si. Despues de todo queria gastar HBD por primera vez en un restaurante y probar las cosas ricas de La Flor de Zapata.

Empecemos por el final Llegar de regreso a casa después de un dia en La Habana, me trajo mucha paz. Yo soy de un pueblito llamado Bauta, donde hay mucha tranquilidad. Esa paz a su vez me hace relajar y meditar en lo ocurrido durante el evento y el viaje en su totalidad.

Muchos aman la ciudad y el ajetreo constante, pero yo se qué estoy en casa cuando el aire se hace fresco, el silencio inunda mis oidos y los colores se vuelven mágicos.

Al salir del evento, y como siempre lo hago cada cez que voy a La Habana, sali a caminar para tirar algunas fotos. Esta vez la curiosidad me llamó hacia El Cementerio Colon, un lugar que hay que visitar y no habia tenido el chance de ir. La Necrópolis de Colon, como tambien se conoce, queda a una cuadra de @laflordezapata siendo asi, pues aproveche para alimentar a "Dos pajaros con una sola mano".

Sigamos con las gratas experiencias y sorpresas recibidas en el evento. Se me dio muy facil encontrar el lugar, La flor de Zapata queda a unas pocas cuadras de la Calle 23 en el Vedado. Al llegar vi que estaba repleto de gente. Todas las sillas y mesas estaban ocupadas y muchos tambien de pie.

Al ver que todos conversaban y aun el evento en si no comenzaba. Fui a la barra para ver las ofertas del local. Habian varias y me decidi por un batido de Mamey sin azucar (3 meses de Reto). Le tire su respectiva foto junto a la señal de HBD y le di el primer sorbido. Aquello estaba extremadamente delicioso. El Mamey de por si ya es rico, en batido es un viaje de ida y regreso al cielo. Mas tarde ordenaria otro mas. Era mi primera vez pagando con HBD en un restaurante asi que tenia que aprovechar. De cierta forma se siente distinto pagar con HBD, las cosas saben mas ricas jajaj. La dependienta, que tambien es dueña del local, tiene un carisma unico para un exelente servicio al cliente. El trato impecable. Muchas gracias.

Y comienza la funcion.

@manuphotos al cual todos conocemos por su ardua labor en Hive Cuba, comienza a dar las mieles del dia. La mayor atraccion era la presentacion de la Tarjeta de debito de Hive. Esta se puede usar en establecimientos donde acepten HBD, una buenisima opcion para los Hivers cubanos. Esto muestra la seriedad y creciemiento de la comuncidad. Se le entrego una a cada uno de los presentes. Manu se encargo de explicar como funcionaba.

Al terminar con la primera presentacion del dia, compartimos, como era de esperar, dada la celebracion del dia, unas deliciosas pizzas al estilo La Flor de Zapata con la cortesia de Hive Cuba.

Hubo un momento de pausa y conversaciones entre nosotros los conocidos y los nuevos amigos que sumamos en la actividad. Una sensacion muy agradable conocer personas que comparten puntos en comun.

El evento casi llegaba a su fin, entre pagos, saludos y adioses, se ve vaciando el lugar. Aproveche para pedirme un cafe cortadito cubano, bien fuerte, amargo y sin azucar. Otra delicia que ademas me daria fuerzas para la caminata del recorrido fotografico que se avecinaba.

We celebrated BITCOIN PIZZA DAY, though honestly, our gathering could easily be called HBD Pizza Day 😂.

I had been waiting for this day—May 22—for weeks. The announcement came through the @Hivecuba Telegram group, and the futuristic countdown began. I was thinking about it so much that I mistakenly confused May 21 for the 22nd! I knew it wasn’t the 22nd yet, but that number was just stuck in my head.

I had heard of other events before at @laflordezapata 😂 but never attended—back then, I was still new to Hive and wasn’t interested enough. As I became more engaged with the platform, everything fascinated me. The first time I met the community was at the 2024 Book Fair event. Several Hivers gathered, and it was a beautiful moment. That day, I won my first Hive T-shirt! Then came the main event of the year, and now this one—I couldn’t miss it! Attending was non-negotiable. After all, I wanted to spend HBD for the first time in a restaurant and try out the delicious offerings at La Flor de Zapata.

Let’s Start from the End

Returning home after a day in Havana brought me a sense of peace. I’m from a small town called Bauta, where tranquility reigns. That peace helps me relax and reflect on everything that happened during the event and the journey as a whole.

Exploring Havana After the Event

Every time I visit Havana, I always take a walk to snap some photos. This time, curiosity led me to Colon Cemetery, a must-see landmark I hadn’t yet visited. La Necrópolis de Colón, as it’s also known, is just one block away from @laflordezapata, so I decided to hit two birds with one stone.

The Event Begins

Finding the venue was easy—La Flor de Zapata is just a few blocks from Calle 23 in Vedado. Upon arrival, I saw that it was packed! Every chair and table was occupied, and many stood around chatting.

As everyone was still mingling and the event hadn’t officially started, I headed to the bar to check out their offerings. I opted for a sugar-free mamey smoothie (three months into my challenge). Naturally, I took a photo with the HBD sign before taking my first sip. It was delicious—mamey is already tasty, but in smoothie form, it’s an express ticket to heaven and back. Later, I ordered another! It was my first time paying with HBD at a restaurant, and honestly, food just tastes better that way 😂. The owner, who also manages the place, provided excellent customer service—her warmth and charisma made the experience even better. Thank you so much!

And then, the show began.

@manuphotos, whom we all know for his tireless work in Hive Cuba, kicked off the event. The highlight of the day was the unveiling of the Hive debit card—a fantastic new option for Cuban Hivers! It can be used at establishments that accept HBD, proving how serious and committed the community is to growth. Everyone present received one, and Manu explained how it works.

As expected, given the celebration, Hive Cuba treated us to delicious pizzas in true La Flor de Zapata style!

Between conversations with old friends and newly met ones, it was clear that this community shares deep common ground. The event was nearly over, and as people began leaving, I seized the moment to order a strong Cuban cortadito coffee—bitter and sugar-free. Another delight that energized me for my upcoming photography walk.

Finally, it was time to settle the bill.
