Joy

A Couple of day ago I went a an exhibition called Joy. Strangely it was at the immigration museum, which is not a place that always embodies Joy, sure there it the concept of starting a new life in Australia, but a fair amount of the exhibitions are actually about how incredibly racist Australia's immigration policy were and to a certain extent still are.

But then you climb to the top level of the building and you find the temporary exhibition called Joy, which bills itself as - a unique opportunity to experience the power and meaning of joy. Big joyous moments and more reflective spaces capture all kinds of joy, from the carefree years of childhood to a celebration of belonging and togetherness.

Explore what joy means to others then share what sparks your own joy with our colourful 'Share Your Joy' wall.

It's not a huge exhibition, just 7 installations, but it does just that, bring Joy. So let's look at some of the pieces...

The full recreation of a Video store was interesting, I guess they bought joy back in the day

And the Wall of joy - amongst all the very ernest seeing children grow, family etc, I like this one - because Chicken is good

And a bonus shot - looking out, past the coat of arms over the train line to where I used to work, which....din't bring me a huge amount of joy

Those photos are interesting. I love the colors: I kept scrolling up and down, looking at them over and over again.

I also love chicken, and I might just make it for dinner tonight 😁

And that video rental store caught my attention: do those still exist, when most of this stuff can be downloaded online?
