Bilbao, a town of street art
Another city in Spain, and some more street art - this time Bilbao in Basque country of the North, now known for art in a gallery, but this art was one the street
Much of the artwork on the street in Bilbao feels political, which is unsurprising when you are struggling for independence. There is something very powerful about the imagary here. the read word by the way spell out Anti-fascist in the local Euskera language
Classic mural on the roller-door of a closed shop that is so common in European cities, this also feel political though, and whilst I'm certainly not getting into a debate about ETA, mainly because I don't know nearly enough about Basque independence movements to form an opinion there is something 1970's revolution about this image - and again we seem to have women front and centre
This is less political - I think but again the layers of paste up work that I like, the American wild west vibes crossed with fall of versailles.
And now we have some Picasso head work with a photo realistic crow, also nice to see some greenery involved as well.
And finally, completely gentrified, and condoned and a suspect commissioned, this is a stunning piece of work though - European Classical
