Poretti: a simple but good Italian beer (ENG/ITA)

Today I introduce you to an Italian beer, quite commercial but of above average quality in my opinion: Angelo Poretti beer.

I would like to point out that I am not a beer expert, so my impressions are completely subjective and quite vague, because I still do not drink beer so frequently to make in-depth comparisons and I hardly remember the beers I have already drunk in the past.

Oggi vi presento una birra italiana, abbastanza commerciale ma di qualità al di sopra della media a mio parere: la birra Angelo Poretti.
Ci tengo a precisare che non sono un esperto di birra, quindi le mie impressioni sono completamente soggettive e abbastanza vaghe, perché non bevo ancora birra così di frequente da portare dei confronti approfonditi e difficilmente ricordo le birre che ho già bevuto in passato.

Angelo Poretti's brewery was opened in 1876 near Varese, a city in northern Italy and was then acquired by the Carlsberg group in the 1970s. It will however maintain its peculiarities in production, whose strong point is the search for specific mixes of different varieties of hops. In fact, Poretti beers take their name from the quantity of different hops varieties used in the fermentation process.

Il birrificio di Angelo Poretti viene aperto nel 1876 vicino a Varese, una città del nord Italia e sarà poi acquisito dal gruppo Carlsberg negli anni 1970. Manterrà comunque le sue peculiarità nella produzione, il cui punto di forza è la ricerca di mix specifici di diverse varietà di luppolo. Infatti le birre Poretti prendono il nome dalla quantità di varietà diverse di luppolo usate nel processo di fermentazione.

In this case I tasted the "5 luppoli bock chiara" (5 hops light bock), a beer characterized by a blend of 5 different varieties of hops, one of which is grown directly in Italy.
This is a double malt light bock beer, so heavier than a lager but which maintains its classic light yellow color. Despite having a 6.5% ABV I found it very light. It has a fruity aroma and I felt it a little velvety on the palate, the exact middle ground between a lager and a classic double malt^. Without a doubt a cut above other much more advertised beers.

^I know probably the term "double malt" means nothing to you. It's something we use in Italy but I don't really know how to explain this to you in English, so I let you do your own research. Anyway it basically refers to beer with above average ABV, or something like that

In questo caso ho potuto assaporate la "5 luppoli bock chiara" (5 hops light bock), quindi una birra caratterizzata da una miscela di 5 diverse varietà di luppolo, di cui uno coltivato direttamente in Italia.
Questa è una birra bock chiara doppio malto, quindi più pesante di una lager ma che ne mantiene il classico colore giallo chiaro. Pur avendo un grado alcolico di 6,5 gradi l'ho trovata molto leggera. Ha un aroma fruttato e l'ho sentita un poco vellutata sul palato, l'esatta via di mezzo tra una lager e una classica doppio malto. Senza dubbio una spanna sopra rispetto ad altre birre molto più pubblicizzate.

This time I bring you a double #beersaturday because after dinner I went to a pub near home to attend a hardcore metal concert. This place is called Garage Guinguette, and Guinguette is the name of the micro-brewery that is based in this area of ​​Italy. I don't know exactly what beer I had, other than it was their simple lager. But I assure you it was really good, better than the Poretti I had for dinner haha

Ottima per accompagnare un buon cheesburger fatto in casa.
Stavolta vi porto però un doppio #beersaturday perché dopo cena sono andato in un pub vicino casa per un concerto hardcore metal. Questo locale si chiama Garage Guinguette, e Guinguette è il nome del micro-birrificio che ha sede in questa zona d'Italia. Non so esattamente che birra ho preso, a parte che era la loro lager semplice. Però vi assicuro che era davvero buona, meglio della Poretti che ho bevuto a cena ahah
