La testa del MORTO

Hello #beer lovers 🍻
Here again for another round of our beloved #beersaturday with another beer that got my attention on the shelf at the supermarket.

The name is in French, Tête de mort - the head of the dead - and it's a Belgian craft beer. But I like to call it in Italian: LA TESTA DEL MORTO.

Despite the simple, comic-book-style label, the name and font suggest trouble. This feeling is confirmed by the fact that it's a triple, a high fermented beer with an alcohol content of a whopping 8.4%! Ready to die in this sip?

This beer is crafted by Du Bocq brewery in Wallonia and I found out it can be served in a typical... skull glass, wtf?

The foam is quite persistent and releases a slightly citrusy and spicy scent. The taste is a little sweet, typical of top-fermented beers, which fool you because they're damn good. The problem comes when you get up from the chair and fall straight to the floor, hahaha!

I didn't notice any particular aromatic notes other than the slight spiciness. It's a fairly simple and pleasant beer to drink... carefully! I really enjoyed it, and if I ever find it again, I'll definitely buy it again!

The best pizza for this beer is the Diavola for sure. Diavola is the typical Italian name that you see in restaurants for pizza with spicy salami. Beware, this is not your fucking pepperoni pizza! I don't even know what kind of meat pepperoni is, shame on you. In Italy we have good salami, many different types. So this pizza could taste different from a region to another, especially form north to south. As soon as it's spicy, the pizza will be called Diavola, that means she-devil.

Let's get to the music side of the post with a brand new discovery I made these days.

NOVA TWINS

Just like when you see the Tête de mort label with its comic style, you see this couple of Afro-American girls and say "how cute!" and proceed to be punched in the face by a massive modern rock sound!

Holy shit they've totally blown me away. This is the rock I wanna hear in 2025. If you say that rock is dead and everything has already been done... I don't know what to say to you. Maybe you have your ears full of earwax. Go see a doctor.

Killing bass lines with a gritty-synthy sound. Lyrics and singing style that mix hip-hop with rock in this crossover that it's the fresh version of Rage Against the Machine, but with a Pop touch that can easily appeal to the mainstream. I find no flaws in this Nova Twins. Amazing job, now I want to see them live as soon as I can. Too bad I live in Italy, not a good place for live music 🙄
