THE MOST AMAZING WEDDING GIFTS I'VE SEEN.
I've not always been among the set of people who enjoys an attends social functions or go out of variety activity. I would rather stay indoor to surf the net, chat with friends, read books and novels, listen to music or play games no matter how close the location is to my house. I barely attend outdoor functions the highest I can do is to help out with things that has to be done before the occasion, in a case whereby I did not help out, I will attend the program but I won't stay till the end of it, I will also visit the family at the end of the program.
I will be writing the topic in this week prompt,
What's the best or worst, funniest, most unusual or quirky wedding gift you've given, received, heard about or seen?
I went for 2022 Christmas holiday at my paternal home in Abia State we had two church wedding and traditional marriage ceremony (two of my dad's cousin, a male and female). The first was that of the female, the traditional marriage and the church wedding happened on the same day, I didn't attend because I was busy in the kitchen at first but I went for the reception and stayed for an hour. Baby letter was my uncle's traditional marriage (he didn't do the church wedding on the same day). I was prepared to go very early, I didn't really do not in the kitchen because I didn't want to hear the gist like the previous one but wanted to experience it. I was told that the way the marriage ceremony was conducted was different from the one I knew at Akwa Ibom (I don't really know much about my dad's village because last I visited was 7 years ago).
When I got to the event center, nothing serious was happening outside except that people were eating, drinking and snapping pictures well inside a house close to the event center, the grooms family and the bride's family were completing the necessary things that needed to be done. Nppot long afterwards, the bride was handed over to the groom after some protocols. Gift was given to the new couple bye family friends and well wishers, different kind of gifts that can be used to start up a family.
Among all gifts the one that amazed me was the gift given to the bride by the groom's family, I learnt that it is a tradition in Abiriba community for the grooms family to get gifts that will be given to the Bride if the husband and wife are from the community. My uncle's Bride is a hairstylist so the gift were big hair dryers, hand dryers, hair Combs, hair and body creams, shampoos, wigs, attachments and different kind of materials needed to needed to start up an hairdressing salon. She was also given a box full of high quality judge material, a box full of underwears, a box full of casual clothes and slippers.
Iwas surprised at the quantity of gifts she received and then I thought maybe that's was the reason why Abiriba parents prefer intra-communal relationship.
Thanks for reading.
Those are really thoughtful gifts that I’m sure the bride will be grateful for all the time.
