IS DOUBLE DATING JUST A POLITE WAY TO CHEAT?

What does double dating really entail? Is it essentially a form of infidelity, or is it something entirely different?
There are several meaning of Double dating right, and I would love write on the one most people don't talk about which is "exploring the dating scene"

To me, this particular type double dating means casually seeing multiple people at once, without being exclusive, to figure out who's the best match. I don't think there's anything wrong with exploring connections with several people before settling into a committed relationship.

For me, double dating means a single person exploring multiple connections by going on several dates with different people, all while remaining non-exclusive. This allows them to discover various personalities, values, and characteristics, ultimately helping them identify what they're looking for in a lifelong partner. It's one thing to idealize someone, but it's another to truly know if they're the right fit for a committed relationship.

In school, I had a roommate who juggled multiple guys, taking calls from different people every day. It was astonishing to see her handle simultaneous conversations, putting one caller on hold for another. I wondered how she managed to balance her academics with her constant phone activity.I didn't feel it was my place to ask, since we weren't friends and it wasn't my concern. However, I was surprised when I overheard her claiming to be single, despite her frequent conversations with multiple guys. It seemed dishonest to me. Later, I noticed she started spending all her time with one particular guy, and her flirtatious behavior around the hostel decreased significantly. then She'd often boast about having a boyfriend, but I remained skeptical, giving her a side-eye.

After a little time, while scrolling through Instagram in my final year, I stumbled upon a post about "double dating" - a concept where people explore multiple relationships before committing to one. This term described her behavior perfectly: juggling multiple connections until choosing one to pursue exclusively. In most cases it's said you tell all the parties involved so they don't feel used or lied too. Be open and truthful.
On the other hand, if you're exclusive with someone and they're exclusive with you, pursuing multiple relationships is considered cheating and dishonest. This can genuinely hurt someone who trusts and cares for you, leading to trust issues. Many people justify cheating by claiming their partner might be doing the same. However, being exclusive to two people simultaneously is a contradictory concept. In my opinion, people who engage in double dating (cheating) are motivated by one of two reasons; they have commitment issue or have self worth problem.

As at the moment I am writing this, the dating pool right now is crazy everyone is lying or hurting somebody. People are loosing people who genuinely love them whilst others are looking for genuine love. We have Voted with consent, we have open relationship where only person is aware of. For me Double dating in this context is greed. If you are exclusive in a relationship you have nothing to do outside.
