**Everything comes with teamwork to work!
**
Yay! Been busy the whole week and did not post a blog for almost 10 days but been visited some blogs. Sorry for my followers! (Char! As if I have followers waiting for my updates!lol!)

After 4months and a half of raising native chickens,it is time for harvest! When I say harvest, this I mean that it is time to sell the mature chicken. When I say mature, they are for meat so more likely they are 4-5 months old.

We need to sell or harvest ont the maturity day because the more we delay the more the costs will rise. Yes, the feeds and the labor cost will not compensate with the price when we sell them beyond the target date. Same with other businesses, the goal is to lessen the expense but grow the profit. Same principle applies in livestock but of course we never compromise the quality.

I posted the pictures of our chickens to sell online. There were inquiries in the day but no sure buyers.I was worried that it will took us another month to feed them. Our budget is getting tight because we have so many farm animals to feed. The threat of ASF ( African Swine Fever)worsen the situation. The live weight for the pig fatteners hit its bottom price wherein the raisers had no choice but to sell.

A week after I posted online, got an inquiry and he sent his man to check our chickens and I was not prepared for it. He was the 1st farm visitor. He bought 2 RTL (Ready To Lay) hens and reserved another 10 heads to be shipped because he is living 3-4 hr-drive away.

Then we got another 20 heads of RTL (Ready to Lay) hens reservation for pick up and another 4 heads for breeding again and lastly 5 heads for meat.

Yay! We were overwhelmed of the demand. We did not expect that it went well. I can say that is our first bulk sale. Praise God for providing the buyers.

We did not intend to sell all the females or the hens because we will be making them hens or layers to add to our breeders but the demand is high so we don't have a choice but to sell. We prefer to serve customer's demand because we looking forward for the repeat orders. Yeah! We are manifesting that it doesn't end here but continuous supplier-client relationship.

Everything will not be possible without the teamwork. From selection of the hens, to caging and packaging up to shipping and picking up, it was all credit to my family. As I have said, we don't have a paid helper in the farm. I and my husband do the farm chores and if he is not around because he has work, I can ask help of my father and cousins to assist me.

It's not about we cannot afford of having a helper (partly, it is the reason) but we just need to learn first with our own. We need to study everything about farming and I want to practice responsibility and accountability. Sooner or later after I learned from the basic to the crucial part of farming, maybe I can hire a helper. By that, I will know how to delegate the work for a helper.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Thank you for being a part of our harvest for our 1st season of chickens! I hope you enjoy and be happy for us! We have a long way to go but at least, we did it this way!

Thank you every hivers that keep on supporting my blogs! God bless us!

Of courser before I forget, please be reminded of the verse for today :

But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.

Any harvest is a good harvest and I'm glad you've managed to sell them. Indeed, you need to watch the costs as otherwise you won't make ends meet.

good stuff i always loved to raise chickens they will eat anything and are in general good meat, i dont know what the species is but 4 months to get meat seems like a lot of time, most time for meat we raise the white ones and they will be 4kg+ after 3 months at the most...
