Eid Mubarak!
Eid Mubarak!
We are celebrating Eid Al Adha, one of the two Eids of Muslim, today in Oman, along with many other countries.
Today I woke up at 4:10 am and performed the Fajr prayer in the mosque. Then, my elder son and I went to the Idgah (an open field for the Eid prayers) to attend the Eid prayer. The prayer took place at 6 am. We returned home at 6:30 am.
The most important task of Eid Al Adha is to sacrifice animals for the sake of Allah. We already contacted an animal farm to do the procedure. Hence, without further delay, we went there.
We slaughtered two goats. The person was quite an expert! He finished processing two goats in one and a half hour! We were the first people who slaughtered an animal there today! We returned home with meat at around 9 am!
We distributed a part of the meat to some people and freezed the remaining! Eid day is also the day to eat! I am quite full now! Being Friday, I went to the mosque to attend the Jummah prayer! Now, it's nap time!
In the afternoon, we will go out in our car, most likely to the park! That's how the Eid day is so far here!

My heart sank when I read that, but thankfully, you explained more. Slaughtering an animal for food is alright, as long as it was done humanely, and it sounds like the man doing it was an expert.

Yes. It is quite important to do the slaughtering with sharp instrument so that it is done quickly with less suffering to the animals.
Don't you eat meat?
Yes, I eat meat, and my husband used to hunt deer and hogs. It was your wording that concerned me, but then as I read what you wrote, I understood what you were saying.

Starting the day with Fajr and Eid prayers must have been so peaceful.
The sacrifice of the goats and distributing the meat is such a meaningful tradition, and it’s great that everything went smoothly at the farm.
