Chest Pain Following a Barefoot Massage!! | Random Chamber Talk | Mar 12, 2025

Ashiatsu massage, or barefoot massage, is practiced in some parts of the world. I have little knowledge about it. However, it's not uncommon to get a barefoot massage from a small kid (ask the kid to stand on the back or foot, etc) at home. Today's random talk is about such a case!

I took this photograph. However, it was shared before

An above 40 patient visited me a few days ago. He suffered quite discomforting pain in his right lower chest area (over the lower ribs area).
How did he get the pain?
He had a barefoot massage at home by his teenage son.
How old was his son?
Around 16-17 years!!
Did his son have any experience doing that before?
No!

So, while he (son) stood on his (the patient/father's) body, he somewhat got an injury to his right lower chest area. There was no external injury! The examination didn't reveal any serious issues. Hence, I prescribed some medicines to relieve his pain.

After consulting the patient, when I went outside, I found a "big boy" sitting in the waiting area. His body weight would be 60 kg plus! I asked the patient, "Is that the massager"?
Yes!

Okay. That makes sense. A 60 kg inexperienced boy will stand on the body without an injury, it's unlikely!

It is kind of funny in a way the idea's that go through a persons mind 🤔

@hafiz34

I have a 16 year old son he is over 6 ft and also has no experience with this activity and i would not even consider allowing this i think i would stop him.

I would certainly not consent 🤣

It just doesn't seem like a good idea is all i am saying.

People will do some strange things. 🤣

60 kg... That's over for a barefoot massage. Usually, my older brother asks me or my younger brother to do something like that too because we know what we have to do. He has a bigger body than both of us. Both of us weigh around 45-50 kg so it's not too dangerous. I think it needs something like a balance between the massager's weight and the person's body to not cause such injuries... It's sad that he got chest pain. His son will feel guilty due to that accident 😢

Did I get it right? 132 pounds at 16 or 17 years old, wow, he is big for his age and too big to be walking on his father's back.
