Another Easy Saturday at Work | Chamber Talk | Alive and Thriving on July 05, 2025

Hi there. How are you? I hope you are doing great. Welcome to my Post. Below, you will find a short diary for Saturday.

On Saturday, the first workday of the week, I had a duty in another clinic as a relieving doctor. I need to go there by car. It's not very far. It takes around 12-15 minutes to reach there. The morning shift started at 8:30 am and ended at 1 pm. The evening shift started at 5 pm and ended at 9:30 pm.

It was an easy day at work where I consulted only 17 patients. There is no visa medical section. Hence, no need to check up on any people coming for a fitness test. During the morning shift, only 7 patients came. Hence, it was somewhat boring also!!

Of them, there was a patient with recent-onset insomnia (lack of sleep). There wasn't any recent precipitating factor for this acute onset of insomnia. He was already under some stress for a long time. His two younger siblings are somewhat disabled- one is dead and the other one is mute!! His father had passed away when he was a child. He was managing everything well. But, recently he was having trouble falling asleep! He already tried melatonin-based medicine without benefit. I prescribed a medicine that would help him fight the stress and get proper sleep. I hope that it works for him. Having a sound sleep at night is a blessing!! Those who are enjoying it should be grateful for that!

Another very familiar face came on Saturday. Every staff member knows him. Every few weeks/months he is coming to take an antibiotic injection. He has been suffering from colitis for a long time. When it flares up, he comes and takes the injection!! He took the injection and left!

Another patient came with a sore throat! She sat in the chair and asked for an antibiotic for her throat! I examined her throat and it was mildly congested. I didn't have the mood to argue with her. Hence, I prescribed a low potency antibiotic!

At home, I had a second round of morning sleep and an afternoon nap. I couldn't walk on the treadmill. Hence, I couldn't even do 5k steps on Saturday!

Okay. That's all for today. Alhamdulillah, I am alive, healthy, and thriving. How about you?

It seems that you had a fairly relaxed day at work, although I understand that when there are few patients it can become somewhat monotonous.
At least the journey to the clinic is not that long, that always helps.

You are right. Very less patients bring monotony :P

Thanks for stopping by!

That poor man who can not sleep has that to deal with on top of everything else. I hope he can get some rest.
