A Busy Wednesday at work! | Alive and Thriving on November 12, 2025

Patient turnover is still pretty high at our clinic. I think it is the scenario in every clinic and hospital nowadays. On most days, in our clinics, we, the GP doctors, are consulting over 100 patients together. The number is much higher than in the previous few months.

On Wednesday, I consulted 56 patients in my chamber. Another GP doctor consulted a similar number of patients, making it over 100 patients, consulted by the GP doctors! Around 80-90% of them have seasonal flu symptoms. There is a shopping center nearby. Every day, 5-6 workers are brought to us with cold, cough, and fever!

Due to a lack of proper counselling, and due to the availability of many clinics nearby, we find a good number of patients roaming around from clinic to clinic, taking injections and changing medicines, instead of sticking to one prescription. According to me, it is a waste of resources! I always try to find out what medicines they are already on. If okay, I will tell them to continue the previously given medicines!

On Wednesday morning, in between dropping my kid off at his school and joining my duty, I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes. It helped me reach 14,422 steps on the day. We also visited two shopping center after 9 pm.

That’s a packed day indeed. Healing so many while keeping your own balance shows true dedication. Even in the rush, you still found rhythm in both work and in steps 🫡

taking injections and changing medicines, instead of sticking to one prescription.

Human nature, impatience and lack of consistency, which even add to the issue.

You must have had a very tiring day, and still find time to keep fit, for yourself, family and your job... that's striking a balance and practicing what you teach.

Keep up the great work!
