Sunset and lava rocks, Portugal.

Hello photo lovers,

Last week I made a backup on my computer of all the pictures that I made during my travels in my van in 2025. It was about 55 GB of pictures with a total of more than 3700 pictures. And I'm going to bore you with all of that 😅

I already started it and today I will show you some sunset pictures from the Portuguese coast. This was the coast line of the town of Viana do Castelo. This town is located about 25 kilometers south of the boarder of Spain and is divided by the river Lima which runs from the Serra das Meadas mountains in Spain.

The coast line the north of the city, consists of black lava-rock like rocks and they are sharp and slippery at the same time. But the are spectacular to take pictures of. It was very hard to do so because of the contrast between the light sky and the black rocks was enormous.

These rocky coast lines are part of the Geopark Litoral de Viana do Castelo who are shaped over hundreds of millions of years.

It looks a bit like Mordor from the Lord of the Rings movies. This is a very cool panoramic picture if I may say so. The layers in the distance gives a very nice depth in the picture. It was a very pretty beach to walk along. This place must be awesome when there is a storm hitting. I want to see the waves pounding on these black rocks. As I look for the location of the beach on @worldmappin I spotted the town of Montedor, and my dyslectic read something like mordor 😅

The sun was setting very pretty behind the lava rocks. If you look closely, you see some faces in the edges of the rocks. One is almost kissing the sun. Do you see it?

I found some green grass in the foreground but it was very hard to get that in frame. I didn't brought my filters when I was out hiking here. My backpack was already to heavy and my back is not that good anymore.

And here I forgot to get ride of the lens spot from my camera censor. There is a bit of damage on it and in pictures like this I need to get ride of the spot in light room. And some times I forget to do that.

To bad this ship wasn't closer to the sun. Would have been really cool if it was sailing in front of it. And running back wasn't going to work I think. Probably need to walk pretty far for that.

Goodbye sun, see you tomorrow.

Thank you for reading my post and I hope you like my pictures.

The best sunsets are on the coast of Portugal.😅

Consider resizing the photos. They are too large and take a long time to load in the feed, and I have fast internet.😉
