A beautiful classic comedy and courtroom drama in one. “ Adam's Rib” is a true classic from the golden era of Hollywood.

also Miklós Roza made masterpiece soundtrack and Cole Porter gave us (recycled his own other melody) great catchy theme song.

The film begins in a non-obvious way - to arrive at the question of whether a woman reacting affectively impulsively and aggressively to marital infidelity should be treated by jurors (that's the beauty of the American judicial system) as fairly (leniently?) as a man who would behave the same way .

Violence is said to never be the solution and in this storyline it also failed to liberate the person who resorted to it from her private hell (but that's my over-interpretation).

A loving and overly happy couple - in their roles outstanding actors (Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn, as Adam and Amanda Bonner) playing the role of the Prosecutor and defense attorney of the main protagonist.

It seems perhaps an artificial and cinematic gimmick and absurdity well, the screenwriters based this idea on an actual event in the life of a lawyer couple acquaintance. Life, as you can see, writes interesting scenarios.

after the spoiler :

Two serious topics addressed in the film are feminism (in a good way) in a time and world where gender equality was still a distant utopian dream and the importance and meaning of law (rule of law) .

my brain is playing tricks on me and when trying to ponder the message of the film it is inevitable to overlook the tragic death of Polish singer Andrzej Zaucha

I feel that finding this film was a shot in the bull's eye in terms of searching for ambitious and auttentically funny comedies. I highly recommend here not a minute is lost.

If you have had enough of Netflix's or HBO's cliched and tacked-on ideology, it's worth going back to the classics - and from this film it's only a step to “Twelve Angry Men”.

My opinion in subjective scale strong 9/10 .

Piękna klasyczna komedia i dramat sądowy w jednym. " Żebro Adama" to prawdziwy klasyk ze złotej ery Hollywood.

Film zaczyna się w sposób nieoczywisty - by dojść to pytania czy kobieta reagująca afektywnie porywczo i agresywnie na zdradę małżeńską powinna być przez ławników (ot piękno amerykańskiego systemu sądowego) być traktowana równie sprawiedliwie (pobłażliwie?) co mężczyzna który zachowałby się tak samo .

Przemoc podobno nigdy nie jest rozwiązaniem i w tej fabule też nie wyzwoliła ona osoby która po nią sięgnęła z jej prywatnego piekła (ale to już moja nadinterpretacja).

Kochająca się i nader szczęśliwa para - w ich rolach wybitni aktorzy (Spencer Tracy i Katharine Hepburn, jak Adam i Amanda Bonnerowie)

(Nie mylić z Bogdanem Bonerem Egzorcystą Walaszków ! )

wcielający się w rolę Prokuratora i obrończyni głównej protagonistki.

Wydaje się to być może sztuczny i filmowy naciągany chwyt i absurd otóż scenarzyści oparło ten pomysł na faktycznym zdarzeniu z życia znajomego małżeństwa prawników. Życie jak widać pisze ciekawe scenariusze.

Dwa poważne tematy poruszone w filmie to feminizm (w dobrym ujęciu) w czasach i świecie w którym równouprawnienie było jeszcze odległym utopijnym snem i waga oraz sens prawa (praworządności) .

Czuje, że odszukanie tego filmu było strzalem w dziesiatke w zakresie poszukiwania ambitnych i auttentycznie smiesznych komedii. Gorąco polecam tu ani minuta nie jest stracona.

Jeśli macie dośc łopatologicznej i dosztukowanej doklejanej nie raz na siłe ideologii Netflixa albo i HBO warto wrócić sie do klasyki - a od tego filmu jużtlyko krok do "Dwunastu gniewnych ludzi"
