The Silver 1oz of pure Mickey Mouse story: The steamboat willy

I usually don't buy silver coins associated with movies, movies, or musical groups. So many Marvel coins around there, or DC comics characters in silver pieces. But this one I felt that I should have for me. It isn't a simple Mickey Mouse; it's a reference to the first Mickey Mouse appearance. By the way, it is interesting to know that Mickey Mouse from this initial appearance entered into the public domain in 2024 after the 95 years of copyrights had expired. So it isn't illegal anymore to produce anything with this character.
Probably that is the reason why the mint (which I think is New Zealand Mint) decided to add this coin to that year, to celebrate the 95th year completed from the release of Steambot Willie (released in 1928). It is a short black and white movie, with not even 8 minutes. The black and white movie also brings the debut of Minnie Mouse to the Walt Disney universe. And it tells the story of Mickey as an employee on this steamboat. He starts the movie with Mickey piloting the steamboat using the side-wheeler paddle. The movie has some comedy scenes that probably aren't very appreciated nowadays, with some type of violence with Mickey getting hurt, but the fun part is when Minnie enters and a goat eats her musical instrument and a page with a written music "Turkey straw".
The goat starts to play the song and Mickey uses many animals and objects to continue playing the song. Probably you don't know the song by name, but it is very famous and you have heard it somewhere. Last year, my daughter got this song to play during a piano class, and I didn't know the name, but the melody for sure, I knew it. Probably I heard in one movie or cartoon since cartoons love to play these old melodies. The coin brings in the face of the start of this animation with Mickey piloting the boat, and it is curious that Walt Disney Animation uses this image as its logo in every Movie.
The back of the coin you find Mickey and Minnie, using the same hat with a single flower that she uses in the animation. The coin is more than a representation of Mickey, but a whole story of a character and studio that grew so much that their products go through generations. My daughters love to watch movies from the studio and probably their kids will also watch them somehow.

hahaha maybe you didn't see this copper one:

Leave it to those that are creative pirates at heart.
Especially when these Copyright recently expired and Mickey and his gang are relegated to public domain products. That's why so many Disney figures suddenly flood the market.
I'd fancy a silver version if the price is right.

I just love how this coin captures the first Mickey's appearance. Such a great choice, nice collectibles.
