The Cloverfield Paradox: An Ok Sci-FI experience.

  I was so uninspired with my searches on Netflix, so I decided to give ChatGPT a chance. I mentioned the last movies that I watched, mostly sci-fi, horror and fantasy topic. And asked it to give me some Netflix suggestions. Interesting that the top choice was a movie that was a movie called Anhilation which isnt available on Netflix. Anyways between the recommend movies there were movies that I was sure that I already watched and some that I had some uncertainty. One of them was The Cloverfield Paradox.

  I was almost sure that I watched this movie, but I started to watch and couldn't remember the details. Ok, so it was a "re-watch". One thing for sure I remember well was the ending which was to confirm the link with the Cloverfield universe. For those who don't remember, there was a movie, Cloverfield, in 2008, which was a Godzilla-like movie but recorded as Blair's method. Also, after "10 Cloverfield Lane" from 2016, in which a woman wakes up in a bunker and keeps trying to escape, only to finally escape in the end, we understand why she was in the bunker, because the same monster was wandering around. And now another movie is trying to fill more gaps of this Cloverfield mythology.

  The producer of this movie is J.J. Abrams, who got a bit hyped in the Sci-fi Universe, directing some recent Star Wars movies such as "The Force Awakens" and "The Rise of Skywalker" and also a remake of Star Trek. He is also one of the producers of the new Constantine comeback, which is still in production with Keanu Reeves. In this last movie of the Cloverfield universe, it might explain how the monster appeared on Earth. Different from other Kaijus, such as Godzilla that can be linked to organisms altered by nuclear radiation or extraterrestrial. This one looks like being born by some humans playing with a particle accelerator.

  Basically, a group of scientists/astronauts are testing a particle accelerator to solve the energy problem in the world, which got into a crisis. After using it, they are transported to another dimension with another Earth where their space station collapsed into the sea. The movie brings all the drama and action of the group trying to return to their reality, and when they finally could do it, they see what extra harm they also brought with the particle accelerator

  The movie is fun if you are a sci-fi addict, but I admit that there are awkward moments, such as when one of the crew's member get his arm stuck in the wall and get surgerical amputed. The amputation doesn't bring any blood and you can see the different layers of tissue without any moisture. In addition, his arm comesback with some independent life, helping the crew. It is ok to imagine craziness in other dimensions, but this was too much.

  The story is crazy enough with a predictable ending if you watched the other two Cloverfield universe movies. But it is cool to understand more about this universe in which the director tries to create a suspense with not many answers in the first movie. At least I remembered everything about the movie.

  Minhas buscas na Netflix foram tão desanimadas que resolvi dar uma chance ao ChatGPT. Mencionei os últimos filmes que assisti, principalmente de ficção científica, terror e fantasia, e pedi sugestões. Curiosamente, a primeira escolha foi um filme chamado Aniquilação, que não está disponível na Netflix. Enfim, entre os filmes recomendados, havia alguns que eu tinha certeza de já ter assistido e outros que me deixaram com dúvidas. Um deles foi The Cloverfield Paradox.

 Eu tinha quase certeza de que já tinha assistido a esse filme, mas quando comecei a assistir, não conseguia me lembrar dos detalhes. Ok, então foi uma "revisão".Uma coisa de que me lembro bem é o final, que confirmava a ligação com o universo Cloverfield. Para quem não se lembra, houve um filme, Cloverfield, em 2008, que era um filme no estilo Godzilla, mas filmado sob o método de Blair. Além disso, depois de "Rua Cloverfield, 10", de 2016, em que uma mulher acorda em um bunker e tenta escapar repetidamente, até finalmente conseguir no final, entendemos por que ela estava no bunker: o mesmo monstro estava à solta. E agora, outro filme tenta preencher mais lacunas dessa mitologia de Cloverfield.

 O produtor deste filme é J.J. Abrams, que ganhou bastante destaque no universo da ficção científica, dirigindo alguns filmes recentes de Star Wars, como "O Despertar da Força" e "A Ascensão Skywalker", além de um remake de Star Trek. Ele também é um dos produtores do novo filme de Constantine, que ainda está em produção com Keanu Reeves. Neste último filme do universo Cloverfield, pode ser explicado como o monstro apareceu na Terra. Diferente de outros Kaijus, como Godzilla, que podem ser ligados a organismos alterados por radiação nuclear ou extraterrestres, este parece ter nascido de alguns humanos que brincavam com um acelerador de partículas.

 Basicamente, um grupo de cientistas/astronautas está testando um acelerador de partículas para resolver o problema energético mundial, que entrou em crise. Após usá-lo, eles são transportados para outra dimensão com uma Terra alternativa, onde sua estação espacial caiu no mar. O filme mostra todo o drama e ação do grupo tentando retornar à sua realidade e, quando finalmente conseguem, descobrem o mal adicional que causaram com o acelerador de partículas.

O filme é divertido se você é fã de ficção científica, mas admito que há momentos estranhos, como quando um dos membros da tripulação fica com o braço preso na parede e precisa ser amputado cirurgicamente. A amputação não traz nenhum sangramento e é possível ver as diferentes camadas de tecido sem qualquer umidade. Além disso, o braço dele volta a funcionar de forma independente, ajudando a tripulação. É normal imaginar loucuras em outras dimensões, mas isso foi demais.

  A história já é bastante maluca, com um final previsível, se você assistiu aos outros dois filmes do universo Cloverfield. Mas é legal entender mais sobre esse universo em que o diretor tenta criar suspense com poucas respostas no primeiro filme. Pelo menos eu me lembro de tudo sobre o filme.
