SHAME! SHAME! Public humilation in social media.

I watched all the Game of Thrones seasons and I loved it, I wasn't the guy who read the books. But still, I loved it. One of the multiple unforgettable scenes is when a fanatic religious cult gets Queen Cersei Lannister and passes by a public humiliation. She walked through the city's main road with the words "Shame" being said and people "booing" her. Game of Thrones is fiction, but public shaming was something normal in the past. Religious books show examples of public humiliation. Humanity evolved and public humiliation also evolved. One of the names that it got was "Culture Cancel".

I talked a bit about how bad social media is in many aspects before. It was meant to connect people, but misused, and even it is very dangerous for minors to have free access to that. I keep my kids out of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Even YouTube is a bit dangerous for kids. Unfortunately, that is the place where culture concealment gets amplified. Viralization of a controversial picture, post or video can lead to public judgment. Viral posts can be received everywhere in the world with today's technology. It is also very easy to get simple words and images out of context and use them for a certain type of judgment to force to label people.
Another polemic word that grew with this type of concept is called Identity politics. In this case, people create a very strong identity and use it for aggression. We all know how black people suffered especially in the Americas as slaves, even after they were free they passed through socio-oppression for many years. Until nowadays they are still trying to get all the rights and being treated as any other human. After reaching this point of the text did you get something "wrong" in my text? I used the term "black people". Nowadays, Identity politics calls that a racist term. I can be culture canceled because of the usage of this term and condemned by Afro-descendant identity politics groups. Yep, that is the correct term, afro-descendants groups, some of them are even fighting to change scientific terms like "black holes" saying that it is a racist term to be used.
I am a caucasian person saying a not incorrect word in today's world. But if I was an afro-descendant I could use this world freely without any problem, no one would condemn me. I would be canceled even if my whole history of life had been fighting for a better and more equal world, including the rights of Afro-descendants. I cited one example, but there are other identity politics groups associated with other ethnic groups, religions and even sexes/genders. I saw one day a famous Brazilian comedian being canceled by LGBTQ+ identity groups, and he has his history even campaigns pro-LGBTQ+. I don't remember what he posted on social media, but these groups labeled that post as homophobic and started calling him homophobic.

Is there a way to fix that? Maybe everyone should think again as individuals. Being part of a group is good, but we should be careful with some information that gets into us. If somebody shares with you a controversial information that can lead to a specific judgment. Please go to the source of this information, does it have enough information for you to create a certain judgment? Can you defend a political position without knowing what you are defending? Maybe the best way is to ignore this type of social media trend and avoid clicking on gossip.

The thing is, unless you're subjected to it, you might never really know how deep it cuts. That's why some people simply delete their social media accounts just to protect their mental health. Cancel Culture has really caused a number of celebrities to take their own lives.
There are good sides to this, like giving justice to those who use their status and power to do what they want without fear of getting caught. But on the flip side, what about those who are set up? Social media will be just as brutal to them. What about those that got cancelled simply because they were friends with the wrong person.
But then, that's just life, right?
It is an unfair world for sure … also many stories of people getting hurt because of these lies.
It is really sad when people are criticized on social media. We should respect about someone privacy. It is the main reason, I've left using social media anymore. I only love to enjoy blogging on hive. You raised very strong point my dear, have a good day.
I thinn the problem is that people also expose too much their opinions… sometimes if you stay shut will avoid problems lol

Yes, I agree with your thoughts dear.
Unfortunately on social media platforms, we have become quite judgemental.
We should try to ignore the controversial material on social media and discourage this culture. It is quite harmful for humanity.
Great writup.
