Living a dream is possible, it only depends on you.

  I love to travel, but sometimes when my budget is tight, it makes me think how much I should pay for travel. We can travel to a nearby place and go camping, spending the minimum. But also we can get a ticket to a far place and spend thousands of dollars. This year has been complicated. Since the beginning of the year, I was planning a nice trip now in June, but the disease of my father almost changed my plans, but in the end we started to think if sometimes overspending isn't worth it once in a while?

  Last year, my Brazilian soccer club called Botafogo won the Libertadores. The final was in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My father and brother went there. But I didn't the travel tickets to Argentina are too expensive. I decided to go to the Fifa Club World Cup next year in case Botafogo wins the Libertadores. The FIFA Club World Cup is going to happen in the US in June this year. Botafogo won its first Libertadores in its history and qualified for the World Cup in the US. Earlier this year, the venues of the World Cup were decided and I bought the tickets for two games that were scheduled in the city of Los Angeles, a 3h flight from Calgary.

  Everything was well planned, but then in February, my father was diagnosed with his cancer recurrence and started the treatment. I decided that I needed to go to Brazil to visit him in April, so I did. It was an amazing trip and these 10 days were important for me. Not sure how long my father will stay alive, so I could do things with him while I was there, without my kids and wife. But I spent money on my air tickets that was unplanned. That made us think a lot about our travel to LA to see the games of Botafogo x PSG and Botafogo x Atlético de Madrid.

  After thinking a lot and seeing the air tickets going up a bit, I started to think about some important things that we forget. Mostly, my daily life is working to get money and pay bills. Most of our money goes to bills. So I thought if I were in my father's position. One of my biggest dreams was to watch live my soccer team in an important international game. So I don't know when or if I am going to have another chance. Sometimes I talk to people about their dreams, and then their lives are in failure and they didn't accomplish that dream. The dream of my wife's grandmother was to visit Italy since they had family there that they had never visited. When I asked her why she doesn't go used to say: " I am too old for going on a trip overseas."

  I decided to move forward and we are going to LA this June. Sometimes we need to make some effort to live our dreams because we don't know the day of how tomorrow will go. It is going to be an amazing trip with family and I will have the opportunity to see my team playing against European teams that play the Champions League. Living dreams like that are always valuable. Let's live our lives before we can't actually live them.

  Adoro viajar, mas às vezes, quando meu orçamento está apertado, fico pensando em quanto devo pagar pela viagem. Podemos viajar para um lugar próximo e acampar, gastando o mínimo. Mas também podemos comprar uma passagem para um lugar distante e gastar milhares de dólares. Este ano tem sido complicado. Desde o começo do ano, eu estava planejando uma viagem bacana agora em junho, mas a doença do meu pai quase mudou meus planos, mas no final começamos a pensar se às vezes não vale a pena gastar demais de vez em quando?

  No ano passado, meu clube de futebol brasileiro, o Botafogo, venceu a Libertadores. A final foi em Buenos Aires, Argentina. Meu pai e meu irmão foram para lá. Mas eu não queria, pois as passagens para a Argentina eram muito caras. Decidi ir à Copa do Mundo de Clubes da FIFA no ano que vem, caso o Botafogo vença a Libertadores. A Copa do Mundo de Clubes da FIFA acontecerá nos EUA em junho deste ano. O Botafogo conquistou sua primeira Libertadores da história e se classificou para a Copa do Mundo nos EUA. No início deste ano, as sedes da Copa do Mundo foram definidas e comprei os ingressos para dois jogos que estavam programados para a cidade de Los Angeles, a 3 horas de voo de Calgary.

  Tudo estava bem planejado, mas em fevereiro, meu pai foi diagnosticado com recidiva do câncer e começou o tratamento. Decidi que precisava ir ao Brasil visitá-lo em abril, e fui. Foi uma viagem incrível e esses 10 dias foram importantes para mim. Não sei quanto tempo meu pai viverá para que eu possa fazer coisas com ele enquanto estiver lá, sem meus filhos e minha esposa. Mas gastei dinheiro com passagens aéreas que não planejei. Isso nos fez pensar muito sobre nossa viagem a Los Angeles para ver os jogos Botafogo x PSG e Botafogo x Atlético de Madrid.

  Depois de pensar muito e ver as passagens aéreas subindo um pouco, comecei a pensar em algumas coisas importantes que esquecemos. Basicamente, meu dia a dia é trabalhar para ganhar dinheiro e pagar contas. A maior parte do nosso dinheiro vai para as contas. Então, pensei: se eu estivesse no lugar do meu pai... Um dos meus maiores sonhos era assistir ao vivo ao meu time de futebol em um jogo internacional importante. Então, não sei quando ou se terei outra chance. Às vezes, converso com as pessoas sobre seus sonhos, e aí a vida delas está um fracasso e elas não realizaram esse sonho. O sonho da avó da minha esposa era visitar a Itália, já que eles tinham parentes lá que nunca tinham visitado. Quando eu perguntava por que ela não ia, ela costumava dizer: "Estou velha demais para viajar para o exterior."

  Decidi seguir em frente e vamos para Los Angeles em junho. Às vezes, precisamos nos esforçar para viver nossos sonhos, porque não sabemos como será o dia de amanhã. Será uma viagem incrível com a família e terei a oportunidade de ver meu time jogando contra times europeus que disputam a Liga dos Campeões. Viver sonhos assim é sempre valioso. Vamos viver nossas vidas antes que não possamos realmente vivê-las.
