First impressions from the second season of Monarch:Legacy of Monsters

  Exactly 11 days ago I finished watching the first season of Monarch and wrote a review about it. It was a nice season with the monsters being just the background story. The focus was the convergence of two stories from the same family lineage in different time periods and an impossible reunion due to some crazy space/time travel through a monster world gate. It was creative and I knew that the chances of keeping the creativity for season 2 would be tough, and for now, I was correct.

  I only watched the first episode of season 2 of this TV show, but it gave me a feeling that now this season would be just a regular monster hunt focus, similar to any Godzilla franchise movie. So it doesn't look like we will have a big creativity around the story. The cast is the same, including Kurt Russel that ofcourse was rescued in the first episode from the Monster Real. His character Colonel Lee Shaw was the only one left there. And Basically the monster that was freed during the rescue mission is going to be the focus of this new season.

  For sure also they will explore a bit the bonds between all Randa family, grandma Keiko, father Hiroshi and the two half brothers Kentaro and Cate trying to find the right balance in their relationship to continue to explore the world of monsters, which since the last scene of the cliff hanger of last season we got also King Kong around. Monarch, for now, is an ally and not a governmental entity with dark secrets.

  The new season surprise would be if they find alive the grandfather Bill Randa, which gone missing after a quest in search of monsters in the first episode of the first season. Do you think that they will try to make a reunion with the whole family? That's the only member who isn't around yet. It would be fun to see John Goodman active, but everything that I read tries to cool down this theory.

  The new episodes are being released every Friday. I still didn't watch the second episode since I recently started to watch another TV show with my wife called Chad Powers from Disney+. I will watch this new season with skepticism. I have fun watching monster movies. I think I mostly watch all these movies related to the topic, but I would say my feeling is that this new season of Monarch would be the lowest priority to be watched compared to the others that I am watching.

 Exatamente 11 dias atrás, terminei de assistir à primeira temporada de Monarch e escrevi uma resenha sobre ela. Foi uma boa temporada, com os monstros servindo apenas como pano de fundo. O foco era a convergência de duas histórias da mesma linhagem familiar em diferentes períodos de tempo e um reencontro impossível devido a uma viagem espacial/temporal maluca através de um portal do mundo dos monstros. Foi criativo e eu sabia que as chances de manter essa criatividade na segunda temporada seriam difíceis, e por enquanto, eu estava certo.

  Eu só assisti ao primeiro episódio da segunda temporada desta série, mas tive a impressão de que esta temporada será apenas uma caçada a monstros comuns, semelhante a qualquer filme da franquia Godzilla. Portanto, não parece que teremos muita criatividade na história. O elenco é o mesmo, incluindo Kurt Russell, que, claro, foi resgatado do Reino dos Monstros no primeiro episódio. Seu personagem, o Coronel Lee Shaw, foi o único que restou lá. E basicamente, o monstro que foi libertado durante a missão de resgate será o foco desta nova temporada.

 Com certeza, eles também explorarão um pouco os laços entre toda a família Randa: a avó Keiko, o pai Hiroshi e os dois meio-irmãos, Kentaro e Cate, tentando encontrar o equilíbrio certo em seu relacionamento para continuar explorando o mundo dos monstros, que, desde o final da última temporada, também contou com a presença de King Kong. A Monarch, por enquanto, é uma aliada e não uma entidade governamental com segredos obscuros.

 A grande surpresa da nova temporada seria encontrarem vivo o avô Bill Randa, que desapareceu após uma missão em busca de monstros no primeiro episódio da primeira temporada. Você acha que eles tentarão reunir toda a família? Ele é o único membro que ainda não apareceu. Seria divertido ver John Goodman em ação, mas tudo o que li parece descartar essa teoria.

  Os novos episódios estão sendo lançados todas as sextas-feiras. Ainda não assisti ao segundo episódio, pois recentemente comecei a ver outra série com minha esposa, chamada Chad Powers, no Disney+. Vou assistir a esta nova temporada com certo ceticismo. Gosto de assistir a filmes de monstros. Acho que assisto à maioria dos filmes relacionados ao tema, mas diria que esta nova temporada de Monarch será a última das minhas prioridades em comparação com as outras que estou assistindo.
