Avoiding Labels and Divisions

  I am tired of stereotypes. Stereotypes are prevalent in humanity across various layers. It is easy to judge someone just by the book cover and make conclusions about it. All the different prejudices comes because of stereotypes. And it is still very awkward how old-fashioned stereotypes are still in the mouths and thoughts of modern society. Even with old stereotypes coming through the society, we have new ones that came with our digital era. And of course, some mix of old and new.

  The most labels that we see nowadays are the leftists or rightist labels. That type of label can even get regional modifications. In Brazil, for example, you can be called "Lulista" ( if the label is something considered more leftist) or "Bolsonarista" (if the person is labeling you more rightist). This type of label started probably during the Cold War, where you could compare communism against capitalism. The discussion cooled a bit but emerged again with a clear world bipolarism, with the politicians from the center losing a bit of space in regular politics.

  Nowadays I don't even know what I am, a leftist or rightist, because I have been called by both in different groups of people. If you disagree with one group's premise, you will be called the opposite. It looks like you need to follow a script to fit in and be labeled in society. Why can't you disagree on some points and ideas from both sides? It is common to hear " This is something that leftists like" or "Nah this is a rightist idea."

  I was in the post of another user earlier and it reminded me of my youth a bit. I was a guy who used to use a skateboard and listen to rock n'roll. Because of that, I suffered some prejudice and labels from regular schoolmates, like those who like rock are dirty. But even in the rock and skate environment,I suffered a bit of prejudice because I didn't have long hair or piercings in my body so I was considered a "playboy" by some. So again I couldn't fit with the majority, even in a minority group of the skate and rock community. That's because I always belonged to my self-group. My personality is only mine, and no group will satisfy fully what I am.

  I have always preferred picking the ideas that were more fit on me, I have always decided to choose what the characteristics and ideas that could fit me, independent of the label that they come from. Maybe knowing that those labels exist and always cause segregation was fundamental for me to always not follow any group characteristic step by step. I know how labels can serve as poison and create damage to minorities. I have and I will always reject the power that comes when you feel belonging to a big group with a ready-made way of thinking.

  Estou cansado de estereótipos. Os estereótipos prevalecem na humanidade em várias camadas. É fácil julgar alguém apenas pela capa do livro e tirar conclusões precipitadas. Todos os diferentes preconceitos surgem por causa dos estereótipos. E ainda é muito estranho como estereótipos antiquados ainda estão na boca e no pensamento da sociedade moderna. Mesmo com estereótipos antigos surgindo na sociedade, temos novos que surgiram com a nossa era digital. E, claro, uma mistura do antigo com o novo.

  Os rótulos mais comuns que vemos hoje em dia são os de esquerda ou direita. Esse tipo de rótulo pode até ter variações regionais. No Brasil, por exemplo, você pode ser chamado de "lulista" (se o rótulo for algo considerado mais esquerdista) ou "bolsonarista" (se a pessoa estiver rotulando você como mais direitista). Esse tipo de rótulo provavelmente começou durante a Guerra Fria, quando se comparava o comunismo ao capitalismo. A discussão esfriou um pouco, mas ressurgiu com uma clara bipolaridade mundial, com os políticos de centro perdendo um pouco de espaço na política tradicional.

  Hoje em dia, eu nem sei o que sou, de esquerda ou de direita, porque já fui chamado por ambos em diferentes grupos de pessoas. Se você discorda da premissa de um grupo, será chamado do oposto. Parece que você precisa seguir um roteiro para se encaixar e ser rotulado na sociedade. Por que você não pode discordar em alguns pontos e ideias de ambos os lados? É comum ouvir "Isso é algo que os esquerdistas gostam" ou "Não, isso é uma ideia direitista".

  Eu estava na postagem de outro usuário mais cedo e isso me lembrou um pouco da minha juventude. Eu era um cara que costumava andar de skate e ouvir rock n' roll. Por causa disso, sofri preconceito e rótulos de colegas de escola, como se quem gosta de rock fosse sujo. Mas mesmo no meio do rock e do skate, sofri um pouco de preconceito porque não tinha cabelo comprido nem piercings no corpo, então era considerado um "playboy" por alguns. Então, novamente, eu não conseguia me encaixar na maioria, mesmo em um grupo minoritário da comunidade do skate e do rock. Isso porque sempre pertenci ao meu próprio grupo. Minha personalidade é só minha, e nenhum grupo vai satisfazer plenamente o que eu sou.

  Sempre preferi escolher as ideias que mais se encaixavam em mim, sempre decidi escolher as características e ideias que poderiam se encaixar em mim, independentemente do rótulo de onde elas vêm. Talvez saber que esses rótulos existem e sempre causam segregação tenha sido fundamental para que eu nunca seguisse nenhuma característica de grupo passo a passo. Sei como os rótulos podem servir de veneno e causar danos às minorias. Rejeitei e sempre rejeitarei o poder que surge quando você se sente pertencente a um grande grupo com uma maneira de pensar pronta.
